The Law Has Failed Palestinians, It’s Time For A Protection Force

It has been nearly a year since Hamas and other Palestinian resistance fighters broke out of Gaza and the illegal Israeli occupation launched a devastating and genocidal war on Gaza, which has now expanded to all of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and other countries in the region. Many attempts within the United Nations to stop the war and to hold Israel accountable have failed to protect Palestinians, as have other international bodies. Clearing the FOG speaks with human rights lawyer Ousman Noor, who started a petition demanding that an international protection force be established urgently to protect Palestinians. Noor explains how people can use the petition to pressure nations to take action.

VIPS Memo: Advice To US Vice Presidential Candidates

During his debate with Donald Trump, President Joe Biden claimed that Putin “wants all of Ukraine. … Do you think he’ll stop? … What do you think happens to Poland and other places?” Vice President Kamala Harris has posed the same question. The following facts should not come as a surprise. Official Ukrainian sources have long since confirmed that Putin did stop in March 2022, after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agreed to forswear membership in NATO. This was the key provision in the Ukraine-Russia deal initialed by Davyd Arakhamia, who at the time was Zelensky’s chief negotiator at the talks in Istanbul at the end of March 2022, hardly a month into the war.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov Speaks At UN General Assembly

A few days ago, this building hosted a forum called the Summit of the Future. Russia was supportive of the idea of the Secretary-General to convene it, since the crisis of our Organisation is deepening and something needs to be done about this. We devoted our efforts to preparing the summit. However, we were realistic in our expectations. There have been many ambitious events in the modern history of the United Nations which ended up with loud declarations which were soon forgotten. The Millenium Summit proclaimed the goal to “free the peoples from the scourge of war”. Two years later the United States of America, at the head of the coalition of the willing, invaded Iraq – the country which has yet to get over the devastating consequences of this affair – under a ridiculous pretext, without the mandate of the UN Security Council.

Legal Experts Criticize Biden For Praising Israel’s Killing Of Nasrallah

US President Joe Biden issued a statement praising Israel for the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, calling it “a measure of justice” for the victims of Hezbollah’s actions, including Americans, Israelis, and Lebanese civilians. The assassination, carried out by Israeli airstrikes, has killed dozens of civilians in addition to Nasrallah and threatens a full-scale regional war. The US statement has sparked sharp criticism by legal experts who argue that the endorsement of extrajudicial killings undermines international law. Legal scholars and human rights advocates have expressed concern over Biden’s framing of the operation, calling it a dangerous precedent that disregards the rule of law.

Spain Goes On General Strike Against Genocide In Gaza

Something did not seem right at the Raval campus of Barcelona University on Friday, September 27. Early on a fresh morning, some thirty students and teachers lingered in the open air, outside the main building, seemingly unwilling to go inside. Classes were set to start soon, but they had no alternative but to stay where they were. “I don’t think we’ll be teaching today”, a professor mentioned to his colleagues. The reason? A dozen activists completely blocked the access, aided by two dumpsters and a plastic fence, and are not allowing anyone in. Dressed from head to toe in black to prevent being recognized, one of them hid their face behind a keffiyeh.

US Bolsters Forces In Middle East, Issues Warning To Iran

The Pentagon on Sunday announced steps to bolster its forces in the Middle East amid Israel’s non-stop bombardment of Lebanon. Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder said the US will reinforce its “air-support capabilities” in the coming days and said Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin “increased the readiness of additional US forces to deploy, elevating our preparedness to respond to various contingencies.” Ryder said Austin also ordered the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its strike group to stay in the region. The USS Wasp Amphibious Ready Group / Marine Expeditionary Unit will also continue to operate in the Eastern Mediterranean.

US Occupation Base Hit By ‘Intense’ Rocket, Drone Strikes In Syria

US forces at Washington’s occupation base in the Conoco oil field near eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor governorate came under heavy attack during the early hours of 29 September. “Intense rocket and drone bombardment targeted the headquarters of the US occupation's armored forces stationed at the Conoco gas field base in Deir Ezzor,” Al Mayadeen's correspondent cited field sources as saying. “The intense shelling on Conoco resulted in direct hits on the headquarters of the armored division,” according to one of the sources. Sputnik’s correspondent reported the attack left casualties among the occupation troops. Local sources said the strikes were launched in response to a series of US airstrikes on Deir Ezzor’s Harabeesh neighborhood.

Milwaukee Anti-War Committee Holds Hands Off Lebanon Protest

Milwaukee, WI – On September 25, roughly 100 people gathered to demand an end to the U.S.-funded attacks on Lebanon and Palestine and an arms embargo on Israel. Protesters gathered at City Hall Square as a rally began at around 5 p.m. The rally, led by the Milwaukee Anti-war Committee and cosponsored by ten other local, national, and international organizations, had ten speakers, who connected the resistance in the Middle East to U.S. imperialism and the way it impacts us all. After the initial gathering and speeches, the group marched and chanted down Kilbourne Avenue to Juneau Park. The target of the protest was the Raytheon board member George Oliver, who lives in a condominium tower across from the park.

How Australia Helps The United States Destabilize Asia

September 15 marked the third anniversary of the announcement of the AUKUS (Australia, the UK, the US) agreement. The purpose of this agreement is for Australia to buy nuclear-powered submarines from the UK and the US This increases interoperability with US forces that are projecting their power in the region along the Chinese coast. Furthermore, Australia is participating in the QUAD and SQUAD, “[i]nformal Alliances in the Indo-Pacific.” The city of Darwin in northern Australia has been opened up for the US forces, including planes carrying nuclear weapons. A Port Strike Has Already Hit Canada As US Prepares For Walkouts

As the U.S. economy prepares for a potentially devastating strike across its East Coast ports, Canada is already dealing with its own. About 320 longshoreman represented by a local affiliated with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, began a 72-hour strike on Monday morning, freezing work at two terminals at the Port of Montreal. Those terminals, which are operated by Termont, represent about 40% of the containers that move through the port. EveryDoctor Is Running Its Most Important Campaign Yet

Canary columnist Dr Julia Grace-Patterson’s campaign group EveryDoctor is building a manifesto to fix the NHS. With the input of hundreds of doctors, it’s creating a blueprint of the urgent actions the new government should be taking after fourteen years of Tory destruction. That is, this is the plan Labour should be putting forward – but has so far offered only more of the same privatisation that got the NHS into this mess. It aims to host a meeting with MPs on 10 October to kick off a series of parliamentary briefings spelling out the manifesto’s demands. So now, EveryDoctor is asking members of the public to join it in calling on MPs to attend this vital session.

Activists Call For Global Strike Against Israel War On Gaza

“We want people to stop their work and protest. Use speakers to air the sounds of the air strikes that are hitting us and our people, so people know what we are living through.” seven-year-old journalist from Gaza, Lama Jamous, tells MEMO. This powerful plea from Gaza’s youngest journalist reflects the desperate situation unfolding in Gaza and the urgent need for global solidarity. Lama, along with Dr Ahmed Al-Mughrabi, former head of the Plastic and Burns Department at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, is calling for a global strike to be held on 1 October in support of Palestinians in the Strip.

Hamas, Israel, And The Fog Of October 7: What We Know Now

It has now been one year since the October 7 attack, led by Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades. There are two diametrically opposed versions of that day: the Israeli narrative and what the evidence suggests. On October 7, at 6:30 a.m., the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, launched a military assault targeting Israeli military positions, Kibbutzim, and surrounding areas. According to a 16-page report issued by the group, titled “Our Narrative,” their stated mission was to attack Israeli military positions and seize captives to exchange for thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons. The report also acknowledged certain “faults” in their actions.

Hezbollah Leader Nasrallah Defeated ISIS

Israel has assassinated Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of the Lebanese anti-colonialist, Islamic-nationalist movement Hezbollah. Under Nasrallah’s leadership, Hezbollah defended Lebanon’s sovereignty. The movement was itself born out of the resistance against Israel’s illegal invasion and military occupation of southern Lebanon in the 1980s and ‘90s. Although the US government claims Hezbollah is a so-called “terrorist” organization, only a small number of countries on Earth recognize it as such. In fact, Hezbollah’s political arm is a registered party, and has a dozen representatives in Lebanon’s democratically elected parliament.
