Israel Abducts Multi-National Civilians On The Open Sea

April 29, 2026 - Mediterranean Sea – israel’s actions tonight (Wednesday, April 29, 2026) mark a dangerous and unprecedented escalation: the abduction of civilians in the middle of the Mediterranean, over 600 miles from Gaza, in full view of the world.  Let’s be clear about what this is. This is piracy. This is the unlawful seizure of human beings on the open sea near Crete, an assertion that israel can operate with total impunity, far beyond its own borders, with no consequences.  What we are witnessing is the attempted normalization of israeli control over the Mediterranean itself and an escalation of israel's impunity.

Israeli Navy Goes 700 Miles To Attack Unarmed Gaza Flotilla Boats

In the evening of Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Israeli naval forces attacked the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) to Gaza.  An unknown number of Israeli military ships went over 700 miles to attack a 54 ship flotilla that was headed for Gaza to attempt to break the illegal Israeli naval blockade of Gaza and bring worldwide attention to the continuing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, Israeli ethnic cleansing of the West Bank, the destruction and occupation of southern Lebanon and the attacks on Iran. 21 boats were attacked by Israeli naval forces about 80 nautical miles west of the Greek island of Crete in international waters.

UK Judge Gags Palestine Action Defendants To Secure ‘Terror’ Stitch-Up

Since the retrial of six Palestine Action (PA) activists began on April 13, the defendants have been barred under court order from using terms like “genocide” or discussing the target of their direction action protests. Meanwhile, supporters of PA have been arrested outside the court for holding signs advising jurors of their right to acquit the defendants based on conscience. Now, a draft court order reviewed by The Grayzone reveals how the presiding judge has sought to comprehensively neutralize the PA activists’ ability to defend themselves by imposing crippling restrictions on what can be said in closing speeches.

The Revolutionary Spirit Of Iran

The United States, in its recent war on Iran, has completely misread the Iranian people and failed to recognize the deep revolutionary spirit that pervades Iranian culture. Rather than inciting Iranian people against their government, the US-Israeli war on Iran has united the population. Rather than promoting democracy in Iran and empowering the people, US economic punishment and aggression have accomplished the opposite and have made life more difficult for most Iranians. Like Cuba, Iran is being targeted because it will not relinquish its sovereignty.

Trump Considers Restarting The Bombing Campaign On Iran

US Central Command has requested the deployment of the US’s hypersonic missile, known as the Dark Eagle, for potential use against Iran, as President Trump is considering restarting the bombing campaign, Bloomberg has reported. The US has already used a missile for the first time against Iran, a short-range ballistic missile called the Precision Strike Missile, or PrSM, which, according to an investigation from The New York Times, was used in a February 28 strike that hit a sports hall in the Iranian city of Lamerd, killing at least 21 people in the area, including boys and girls practicing sports.

Venezuela’s Window Of Opportunity For Economic Recovery

Although progressives are rightly concerned about US-coerced compromises and concessions, it is equally important to understand the resilience and continuing successes of Venezuela’s Bolivarian Revolution. Focusing only on the half-empty aspect of the proverbial glass obscures the strength of the resistance and conceals the vulnerabilities of the imperial juggernaut. On a delegation to Venezuela, the constant refrain from both high-ranking government officials and grassroots Chavistas – supporters of the movement led by former President Hugo Chávez – was that they were urgently “buying time.”

Lessons From The Gaza Student Encampments, Two Years On

On April 17, 2024, Columbia University students hoisted tents onto the grass of the East Butler Lawn, initiating an international reckoning with the Israeli genocide in Gaza. The initial encampment was met immediately with a police sweep and the mass arrest of student participants, but this did not deter activists and only prompted a second mass entry into the adjacent lawns mere moments later. I was at the second encampment as an admitted student attending spring orientation. The dynamism of that moment feels surreal now – hundreds of people waving hand-painted banners and flags, cheering to song and chant, and the almost comical, stiff communication from the university as it attempted to maintain a veneer of business as usual, all a portent of the institutional reprisal to come.

Reporters Without Borders: 2026 Lowest Point For Press Freedom

In its 2026 World Press Freedom Index, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) reports that global press freedom has reached its lowest level in the index's 25-year history, with more than half of the world's countries now classified as “difficult” or “very serious” for journalistic freedom. “Journalists are still being killed and imprisoned for their work, but the tactics undermining press freedom are evolving. Journalism is being asphyxiated by hostile political discourse towards reporters, weakened by a faltering media economy, and squeezed by laws being used as weapons against the press,” the RSF report read.

Documents Of Disaster And Conferences Of Calamity

250 years ago, a collection of disgruntled white men - many of them wealthy landowners, slaveholders, and white supremacists - declared their independence from a king and what they believed to be an iniquitous tyranny that exercised interdiction from the pursuit of “life, liberty, and happiness.” This so-called Declaration of Independence (DOI) may very well be the most hypocritical, contradictory, and incomplete document and proclamation in the HIStory of the world. According to the historical society, American Battlefield Trust, 41 of the 56 DOI signers were slaveholders, with Thomas Jefferson, the lead author of the document, himself owning over 600.

American ‘Micro-Militarism’

There is mounting historical evidence that America is indeed an empire in steep decline, while President Donald Trump’s war of choice against Iran is becoming the sort of micro-military disaster that helped destroy successive empires over the past 2,500 years — from ancient Athens to medieval Portugal to modern Spain, Great Britain, and now the United States. And at the core of every such ill-fated war-making decision lay a problematic leader, often born into wealth and prestige, whose personal inadequacies reflected and ramified the many irrationalities that make imperial decline such a painful process.

A Peace Agenda To End Military Madness

The president who promised to end forever wars and spoke of reducing nuclear weapons has succumbed to what David Wallace-Wells calls “impulsive warmongering.”  After bombing Iran for 12 days last June, the U.S. and Israel launched a massive military assault that has caused widespread damage in the region and major disruption in global energy markets. In January, Donald Trump sent military forces to capture and arrest the leader of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro. The White House has proposed the largest military spending increase since World War II and plans to pay for it with draconian cuts in health care and other domestic social programs.

Rutgers Labor Center To Celebrate Life And Legacy Of Tony Mazzocchi

In the 1960s and 70s, conservative leaders of the AFL-CIO and many national unions viewed militant activists in the civil rights, anti-war, environmental, and women’s movements with alarm. When student radicals started migrating from campus and community organizing to unionized workplaces, labor officials did not welcome them. But a World War II veteran from Brooklyn named Tony Mazzocchi did. Mazzocchi had risen through the ranks of the Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers (OCAW), a CIO union which had a strong tradition of rank-and-file activism and internal democracy.

Israel’s Vulnerability And Palestinian Leverage

It is tempting to argue that Israel’s new military doctrine is predicated on perpetual war — but the reality is more complex. Not that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would object to such an arrangement. On the contrary, his relentless drive for military escalation suggests precisely that. After all, his openly declared quest for a “greater Israel” would require exactly this kind of permanent militarism — endless expansion and sustained regional destruction. However, Israel cannot sustain an open-ended fight on multiple fronts indefinitely.

Trump Orders Aides To Prep For ‘Extended Blockade’ On Iran

US President Donald Trump has instructed his aides to prepare for an “extended blockade” against the Islamic Republic of Iran, sources told the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on 29 April.  “Trump has instructed aides to prepare for an extended blockade of Iran. In recent meetings, including a Monday discussion in the Situation Room, Trump opted to continue squeezing Iran’s economy and oil exports by preventing shipping to and from its ports,” US officials told the outlet.  “He assessed that his other options – resume bombing or walk away from the conflict – carried more risk than maintaining the blockade,” they added.

Exaggerated Claims About Latino Migration To US By White Nationalists

In the run-up to the 2024 election, Donald Trump promised “We will close the border. We will stop the invasion of illegals into our country.” A year later, it was a promise he claimed to have kept. But exactly who are the “illegals”? Loose definitions and manipulated statistics tell a very misleading story about migrants from Latin America. Earlier this year, a chart appeared on social media sites like X claiming that during President Biden's four years in office, 8% of Nicaragua's population entered the US illegally. The chart displayed comparable percentages for five other Latin American countries — Cuba, Haiti, Honduras, Venezuela and Guatemala.
