Brussels: TTIP Game Over Actions Stop Negotiations

By Flush the TPP. Brussels, Belgium - As the 14th round of TTIP negotiations commenced, fair trade activists began their 'games' to raise awareness of the anti-democratic nature of the agreement and to slow its progress. Early on, there were actions to 'rebrand' the negotiations, a tactic also known as 'brandalism.' On the first day of negotiations, with the help of the animal kingdom, activists found that the negotiations had been moved. Nevertheless, hundreds of activists succeeded in making a lot of noise outside with a casserole demonstration. Some of the negotiators unwittingly carried the TTIP Game Over message inside.

Communities Create TPP/TTIP-Free Zones

By Margaret Flowers for Popular Resistance. As negotiations of the TransPacific Partnership (TPP) inch toward completion, resistance to it and the other rigged corporate international treaties, the TransAtlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and Trade-in-Services Agreement (TiSA), is escalating. In the European Union, activists are working to pass 10,000 such resolutions. During the fight to stop Congress from passing Fast Track legislation that will be used to rush these agreements through Congress, cities from Seattle, WA to Madison, WI to New York, NY passed resolutions against Fast Track. Labor played a big part in making these successful. Now, new resolutions are underway in more cities with the goal of 100.

Desperate Obama Administration Deceives On Fast Track & TPP

The Massachusetts senator has come out forcefully against the misleadingly named trade deals, the TransPacific Partnership and its ugly sister, the TransAtlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. Mind you, these treaties are not about trade. Trade is already substantially liberalized and in keeping, only five of the 29 chapters of the TransPacific Partnership deal with tariffs. What these pacts are primarily intended to do is strengthen intellectual property laws to help US software and entertainment companies, along with Big Pharma, increase their hefty profits, and to aid multinational by permitting the greatly increased use of secret, conflict-ridden arbitration panels that allow foreign investors to sue governments over laws that they contend reduced potential future profits. I am not making that up.

Time Again To Stop Fast Track; Stop The TPP & TAFTA

Nov. 8th to 14th Week of Action: Say NO to Fast Track and Unjust Trade! This fall, communities across the U.S. will once again join international allies in a global week of action against unjust trade. With Obama pushing to announce a TPP “framework” in November and the threat of Fast Track tripling in the lame-duck session, we need to demonstrate that hundreds of thousands still oppose corporate agreements meant to put profit before people and the planet. Let us know if you think your community can hold an action of any kind this November, and help us stand beside those resisting unjust trade from New Zealand to New York.

International Day Of Action To Stop TAFTA

If agreed, TTIP would extend the power of big business over our society to unprecedented levels. It would grant corporations the power to sue governments for making laws that 'damage' their profits, threatening to make the privatisation of our public services, like the NHS and education irreversible. This deal is also about undoing hard-won regulation that protects workers’ rights, the environment and our health. Harmful industries like fracking would be given an easier ride and banks and financial institutions would gain even more power. Meanwhile, food safety standards would be undermined and pay and conditions at work could decline. Trade deals like this have been beaten before.
