Activists Protest Pacific Fleet Over Involvement In War On Iran

Protest  at Pacific Fleet Headquarters, Pearl Harbor.

The protest took place on Monday, March 16, 2026 at Pacific Fleet Headquarters on the corner of Halawa Drive and Kamehameha Drive, Pearl Harbor.

Most people here in Hawai`i are completely unaware of how involved Hawai`i is in waging war, the completely illegitimate and illegal war on Iran.

Thanks for Kevin Knodell for his excellent articles in the Honolulu Star Advertiser that reveal that Hawaii military bases are helping attack Iran.

We need to remind U.S. military that they are committing war crimes and their souls will pay with the highest rates of suicides, domestic violence and drug use.

On March 4th the USS Charlotte, a nuclear submarine based at Pearl Harbor, torpedoed and sank an Iranian frigate that was without ammunition and was returning from regional naval exercises sponsored by India similar to RIMPAC.

The Iranian ship was off the coast of Sri Lanka, when the USS Charlotte torpedoed it killing at least 80 crew members.  The USS submarine did not attempt to save survivors as required by international law.  Instead, the Sri Lankan Coast Guard had to go 22 miles off shore to save the surviving 32 sailors.

We just learned on March 15, 2026  that the USS Petersen, a destroyer also based at Pearl Harbor, was among US ships and aircraft firing the first missiles to hit Iran on February 28, the day the war began.

The US Department of Defense has not identified what naval vessel or aircraft fired the missile that killed 165 young schoolgirls and 15 staff at the Elementary School in Minab, Iran, but it could have been the USS Petersen.

The least we can do is let the U.S. Navy in Pearl Harbor know we object to what they are doing to the Iranians and to THEMSELVES as the rates of military suicides,  levels of PTSD and domestic violence in military families  sky-rocket.

Members of Veterans For Peace, Hawaii Peace and Justice and Pax Christi participated in the protest.
