On April 20, 2020, about twenty cars joined a rally in the streets of downtown Northampton, Massachusetts calling for national and international solidarity as we face the Covid-19 pandemic. Signs were placed on cars calling for an end to the US sanctions on Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, and North Korea; to allow Cuban medical staff and medicine to enter our country to help fight the Coronavirus pandemic and save lives; to end the blockade of Gaza; to bail out people not corporations; and to fund Medicare for all, not endless wars and the military-industrial complex.

The rally was organized by The Latin America Solidarity Coalition of Western Massachusetts together with the Resistance Center for Peace & Justice of Northampton, and co-sponsored by Code Pink of Western Massachusetts and Arise for Social Justice of Springfield. The rally was blessed by the presence of members of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Peace Pagoda of Leverett, Massachusetts.

Take these ‘rallies’ to the food banks, where the newly displaced by capitalist policy line up and have the time to learn about the reasons of their fate as surplus labor.

Northampton? Real typical American town. 🤣

  • didactic1

This atypical handful might have gone a few miles south to blue collar and poor Holyoke. Better lattes in Northampton though. All those orgs. So few people. Anyone at PR notice that pathetic item?

  • didactic1

The people at food bank lines don’t feel like being lectured on Das Kapital. Who would? Not even Engels!

  • Nylene13

I am all for protesting but CARS are part of the problem.

  • Nylene13

That is not a bad idea! Food Bank lines are a good place to Organize!

  • Nylene13

Disagree. The People are just standing or sitting in their cars waiting.

    Good Place to Organize!

  • Nylene13

    You are pathetic.

  • didactic1

    Aw, no. That bad?

  • didactic1

Everything I said is fair comment though. Why list bunch of org names if few show up? Hey, I’m on their side.
