It would be good to start a discussion at square one. The inequality discussion to date has been, frankly, a fraud. It has been rooted in the gap between the middle class and rich while ignoring the canyon between the poor and middle class. For the past quarter-century, it has simply disregarded the reality that not everyone can work (health, etc.) and that there aren’t jobs for all.

You need to figure out where you are before you can determine which way to go. It’s necessary to asses your current situation before you can figure out what needs to be done. No legitimate economic discussion can exclude the realities of today’s poverty, and its impact on the overall economy. This begins with grasping the reality that not everyone can work, and there aren’t jobs for all.
