NYC Youth Climate Strike

NYC Youth Climate Strike

The next youth-led mass climate mobilization and strike in New York City will be held on Friday, December 6th from 12-3pm. Students from high-schools across NYC will be gathering at City Hall Park to demand action from the elected officials DO SOMETHING about the climate crisis. The demonstration will encircle City Hall and end with a rally at Foley Square. The youth are focusing on the element of FIRE. Wearing red, orange, yellow, and black is encouraged for everyone, everywhere.
The Dec. 6th strike coincides with the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference that was scheduled to take place in Chile but the explosive situation that started with a metro-fare increase and ended in a call for resignation caused the U.N. to move the annual event to Spain. A key component of the Dec. 6th strike will be solidarity with the people of Chile, as well as pressuring the world leaders attending COP25.
We know that change starts on-the-ground. Students in NYC, throughout the country and around the world have been striking consistently, and after the tremendous turnout on September 20th the tide moved in our favor. We need to keep up that momentum. We are part of a global movement. We urge you to support the young people who are literally fighting for their future. Let’s show up.
Feel free to download and share the digital graphic across your networks. Help get the word out far and wide so we can turn out in large numbers to support the young people.
Right now we need marshals for help on Dec. 6th. Available? Sign-up here!
