Fearless Summer of EPIC Protests Taking Shape

  • Vermont: Fighting a proposed natural gas pipeline running gas from Alberta under Lake Champlain. Just beginning to escalate around holding the state regulatory agencies around saying no to the pipeline.

  • New York: Looking for a permanent ban on fracking. Going to the employment office in Harlem to distribute literature about jobs not war. Jobs are the “Green New Deal” involving a ban on fracking. Alert people to the fact that without the investment in dying industries, there will be capital for real job creation.

  • San Antonio: Decided to do a NVDA training camp before planning an action. Valero is there, etc. 3-day action training camp for the 28th, 29th, and 30th. Tar Sands Blockade, SWA, 350, and others will be helping with the training. SADirectaction.wordpress.com

  • St. Louis: Action around Peabody Coal – brand damage-focused.

  • Idaho: Moscow, ID – putting out feelers to regional allies and Rising Tide groups in the NW. The action is centered around coal exports from the Powder River Basin. Wild Idaho Rising Tide is planning something. Northern Rockies Rising Tide and the Blue Skies Campaign are also planning something. Basically, things are brewing in Idaho and Montana around coal exports!

  • Oklahoma: Great Plains Tar Sands Action will be doing an action!

  • West Virginia: RAMPS is going to be doing something around coal. There will also be a press conference and march on the Monday of the week of action.

  • Utah: Utah Tar Sands Resistance will host a family camp-out at the proposed site for the tar sands mine the weekend before the week of action. There will be activities for children, and some sort of direct action toward the end, in collaboration with Peaceful Uprising. There also might be something in Salt Lake later that week.

  • Pennsylvania: June is the national Stop the Frack Attack month. The last day of the month there is a state-wide call-in day to the Governor.

  • Pennsylvania: Last week of August there will be regional retreats across the country, organized by the Energy Action Coalition. Students in different states will gather for direction actions, etc…

  • Connecticut: Targeting the investors of coal mining.

  • New Jersey: March and rally planned up the Delaware into Trenton against fracking waste and disposal. Working to override a veto from Gov. Christie. On the 20th, right before the week of action. Maybe a more confrontational action in the following week.
