Red Lines host Anya Parampil speaks with Kevin Gustafson, an organizer with Democracy at Work and host of the Sensible Socialist Podcast, about the strike sweeping the online shopping industry.

On March 31st, workers for Amazon, Whole Foods, and Instacart went on strike to protest unsafe working conditions in light of the coronavirus outbreak. Anya Parampil and Kevin Gustafson discuss their demands as well as what workers should know if they are planning to strike.

Anya Parampil is a journalist based in Washington, DC. She has produced and reported several documentaries, including on-the-ground reports from the Korean peninsula, Palestine, Venezuela, and Honduras.

    Seriously, Amazon workers are as bad as anybody patronizing Amazon, so there really is no reason to support any striking Amazon worker.

    Besides the fact, the Strike will not work, if ’twere successful, then Amazon remains in business. In other words, there’s no upside.

    Walk off the job and never go back. Then we can support you.

    Until Americans understand Amazon has no business existing, you have no hope.
