Iran Announces New Retaliatory Strikes On US Targets

The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on 27 June that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy struck targets linked to US forces in response to US airstrikes along its southern coast. “In response to this act of aggression, the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted the deployment sites of the US military in the region,” the statement said. Tehran condemned the US attacks, asserting that they  “constitute a blatant violation” of the UN Charter and a “clear breach” of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Iran and the US.

Iran Delays Swiss Meeting

The talks were set to take place in Switzerland on Friday under the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ signed between the US and Iran a day ago, after the two sides agreed on a 14-point accord on Monday. Under the deal, Washington and Tehran have agreed on a framework to end the war on all fronts, including in Lebanon, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate on key issues within 60 days. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Baghaei outlined the procedural roadmap for the next phase of Iran-US talks, emphasizing that “necessary consultations” are already underway through intermediaries.

At least 18 people have been killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon since the early hours of Friday, following Hezbollah resistance operations that killed four occupation soldiers. The start of a 60-day period of technical negotiations between Iran and the US in Geneva was postponed on 19 June, following a brutal Israeli escalation against south and east Lebanon. The Swiss Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that the talks have been pushed, with no new date provided. US Vice President JD Vance canceled his flight to Switzerland. Tehran’s delegation also did not depart for the talks. 

Tehran Launches Regional Counterattack On Washington’s Assets

Iran announced on 10 June its latest retaliatory missile and drone operations launched against US military assets in the Gulf and Jordan, following Washington’s newest strikes on the Islamic Republic.  Washington struck Iran in response to what it claimed was the downing of a US helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.  “In response to the aggression of the US terrorist army in areas in the south of the country under the false pretext of the downing of their helicopter, some US bases in the region were targeted by a powerful attack,” the Iranian military announced on Wednesday.

Iran announced on 1 June new retaliatory strikes overnight in response to another attack launched by the US military in violation of the so-called ceasefire between Washington and Tehran. In a statement, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its Aerospace Force struck the air base from which the US attack was launched, claiming that its designated targets were destroyed. The IRGC warned that a repeat of US violations would be met with a “completely different” response, adding that responsibility would lie with the “aggressor and child-killing US regime.”

United States Violates Truce, Bombs Iranian Port

The US military renewed its violations of the so-called ceasefire with the Islamic Republic of Iran late on 25 May, launching fresh airstrikes on areas in the country’s south. After Iranian media reported large explosions in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas overnight, as well as similar sounds around Sirik and Jask along the Persian Gulf coast, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced its new violations. CENTCOM claimed early Tuesday that it carried out “self-defense” strikes in southern Iran, allegedly targeting IRGC naval boats attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran To Boycott Islamabad Talks With US If Israeli Strikes Persist

The Islamic Republic of Iran has told Pakistani mediators that it will not attend the talks with Washington in Islamabad this week unless there is a ceasefire in Lebanon, according to sources speaking to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on 8 April following massive and deadly Israeli strikes on the Lebanese capital, Beirut.  The report coincided with official Iranian warnings to maintain closure of the Strait of Hormuz and carry out missile strikes if attacks on Lebanon do not halt. Israel killed and injured hundreds in its assault on Lebanon and its capital on Wednesday. 

Israel Violates Ceasefire With Deadly Attacks On Palestinians In Gaza

The Israeli army killed several Palestinians in Gaza on 14 October despite the new ceasefire agreement which has taken effect across the strip. In total, nine Palestinians were killed by Israeli ceasefire violations, Palestinian media reports said. Three bodies arrived at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, while another six arrived at Gaza City’s Baptist hospital. An Israeli quadcopter targeted civilians in Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood while they were inspecting their homes. Israeli artillery also shelled areas in Jabalia and Al-Tarans, accompanied by gunfire. There was also gunfire reported in the Al-Tahlia area of Khan Yunis in south Gaza. Additionally, a group of young men near Al-Fukhari, east of Khan Yunis, was targeted by Israeli forces, resulting in one death.

Israel killed more than 400 Palestinians, including over 100 children, in one of the bloodiest bombardments of the Gaza Strip early on Tuesday, unilaterally ending its ceasefire with Hamas. Air strikes began hitting all five Gaza municipalities from north to south at around 3am local time (12am GMT) on the 18th day of the holy month of Ramadan. Footage broadcast by Al Jazeera showed children and babies among those killed and wounded. At least 413 people were killed and 660 wounded, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Lebanon Demands ‘Firm Stance’ From UNSC Over Israeli Ceasefire Violations

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry has filed a complaint against Israel to the UN Security Council (UNSC) over its constant violations of the ceasefire that was reached at the end of last year. Lebanon expressed its rejection of “systematic Israeli attacks and violations” and Israel’s removal of the signs on the withdrawal line in southern Lebanon, in the complaint filed on 4 February. Beirut also demanded that the UNSC issue a firm and clear position on Israel’s continuous violations and oblige it to respect the terms of the ceasefire agreement. The complaint called on the Security Council to back support for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and UNIFIL forces “to guarantee the protection of the Lebanese sovereignty and the safety of the Lebanese citizens.”

Hezbollah Blasts International Community’s ‘Chronic Indifference’ To Israeli Violations

The head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance parliament bloc, Mohammad Raad, slammed the international community’s inaction regarding Israel’s ceasefire violations, stressing the Lebanese people’s “legitimate and sacred” right to confront the Israeli occupation. Raad’s statement came a day after the Israeli army launched airstrikes on Nabatieh and Zawtar in south Lebanon – one of the deepest attacks since the ceasefire was reached in late November. “The treacherous and condemned Zionist aggression on the southern towns of Nabatieh al-Fawqa and Zawtar last night is a new example of the permanent and ongoing threat posed by the Israeli entity against our people and our country and against the security and stability of all the peoples and countries of our region,” Raad said.
