Trump’s War On Education

The attacks on colleges and universities — Donald Trump’s administration has warned some 60 colleges that they could lose federal money if they fail to make campuses safe for Jewish students and is already pulling $400 million from Columbia University — has nothing to do with fighting antisemitism. Antisemitism is a smoke screen, a cover for a much broader and more insidious agenda. The goal, which includes plans to abolish the Department of Education and terminate all programs of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), is to turn the educational system, from kindergarten to graduate school, into an indoctrination machine.

Activists Continue Target Boycott Until Corporation Brings Back DEI

Minneapolis, MN — After boycotting Target for Black History Month, activists and residents in Minnesota are continuing that boycott indefinitely until the corporation brings back their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs. During a protest at Target’s downtown Minneapolis corporate office on Feb. 27, speakers called for a “buycott” of Black businesses, advocated for picketing outside of Target stores and vowed to not shop at Target. “We want to make sure that we’re holding Target, in our community, accountable for the promises that they made following George Floyd’s murder by Minneapolis police,” said Monique Cullars-Doty, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Minnesota and Black Lives Matter Twin Cities.

Elon Musk And DOGE Slash Funding For Major Black KC Neighborhood Councils

At exactly 7:17 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council Executive Director Alana Henry received a terse notice from the USDA: the agency was canceling its three-year Farmer’s Market Promotion Program (FMPP) award to Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council. The cut was swift, shocking, and, for those who’ve been paying attention, all too predictable. The Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council (located in one of Kansas City’s historically Black neighborhoods) had already launched a visionary plan to boost food sovereignty and economic power in the community. Their programs offered training for local growers—many of them Black, brown, and small-scale—so they could sell fresh, affordable produce at neighborhood farmers markets.

DEI’s Demise Exposes Absurdity Of Trusting Oppressors To Correct Themselves

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs did not emerge from Biden’s Executive Order. Many corporate efforts at diversity emerged or were expanded following the 2020 uprisings against racist terrorism sparked by the murder of George Floyd. These corporate efforts claimed to have a goal of addressing the underrepresentation of marginalized groups within their workforces and supply chains. These moves were in response to yet another moment in American history where the deep inequality between white and Black people in the U.S. was exposed as an ever growing chasm, rather than the rose-tinted example of American progress on racism that many believed capitalist success is, or inclusion into the capitalist system that claims to produce equal success for all.

Press Conference Announces National Target Boycott

Minneapolis, MN — Minnesota residents are calling for a nationwide boycott of Target stores in response to the corporation recently cutting its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies. An uproar hit social media when the announcement was made and since then, legions of people online have been calling for a Target boycott and to buy from Black businesses. Watch Unicorn Riot’s live stream of the press conference on Thursday, January 30 outside of Target’s downtown Minneapolis offices, where community activists will call for a national Target boycott.

The Death Of DEI

The sight of Al Sharpton holding a protest at a New York City Costco store is a sure sign that very problematic politics are being practiced. In this instance, Sharpton’s theatrics were inspired by the corporations which discontinued their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. DEI has been in conservative crosshairs with conservative think tanks and activists filing numerous lawsuits claiming that the programs are discriminatory. The same corporations who joined in the performative DEI programs when it was convenient have now run for cover.

Report Shows Understaffed Air Traffic Control On Night Of Plane Crash

A preliminary report on Wednesday night's crash involving a American Airlines commercial flight and a military helicopter revealed that the air traffic control tower in the vicinity of the accident was not staffed at "normal" levels, with just one controller handling a task that two employees ordinarily would have done in the high-stress job. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report on Thursday said the staffing at the time of the crash was "not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic." One controller was instructing helicopters near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport while also directing planes landing at and departing from the airport.
