Next Governor Has The Power And Duty To Stop The F-35 Training
On January 7, 2027, Vermont’s next governor can end a grave injustice. The next governor possesses the constitutional authority to order an immediate halt to the F-35 training flights operating from Burlington International Airport (BTV). This is a legal, moral, and public health imperative, grounded in facts the U.S. Air Force itself provided.
The Air Force’s own 2013 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is unambiguous and its damning. It reveals that training with F-35 jets amidst the city neighborhoods surrounding the runway at Burlington International Airport exposes 6,663 civilians, 1,200 of whom are children, to 115-decibel noise with each F-35 takeoff.
