Iran Warns United States Of ‘More Destructive Phase’

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for several strikes targeting US-linked energy and petrochemical sites in the Gulf, following US-Israeli attacks on major Iranian infrastructure. The IRGC said it attacked US gas facilities linked to ExxonMobil and Chevron in the UAE. It also said it launched “a missile attack on US petrochemical facilities producing fuel materials for the US armed forces and military products for the Israeli entity in Al-Ruwais, UAE, causing a widespread fire.” It also confirmed that Tehran was behind drone attacks on US-linked petrochemical sites in Sitra, Bahrain, including the Bapco refinery, as well as in southern Kuwait’s Shuaiba.

London Ambulance Attack

The notion that the Iranian state would discredit itself by choosing to attack an ambulance service in London is crazy. Iran has not even attacked any hospitals or ambulances in Israel. Iran has absolutely zero record of attack on healthcare facilities. That is of course in stark contrast to Israel which specifically targets them in Gaza and Lebanon. The obvious revulsion of a U.K. public, that has been opposed to the war on Iran, at the destruction of the ambulances would far outweigh any possible gain. What precisely is the gain that Iran is supposed to have sought?

The source said Iran had obtained “accurate intelligence information” indicating that Israel was responsible for the operation.

In deploying the largest naval armada seen in the Caribbean Sea for decades, the Trump administration has spent recent months ramping up long-standing US aggression against Venezuela. Predicated upon the falsehood that Venezuela is a narco-state run by the non-existent Cartel de los Soles, the fleet comprises at least thirteen warships, including three guided-missile destroyers, five support vessels, a nuclear submarine and the USS Gerald Ford. The latter, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, is capable of carrying over 75 military aircraft and a range of military assets. Overall, the US has deployed at least 16,000 military personnel to the flotilla. The Pentagon is also docking warships and moving in war materiel through Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago, and very likely through Guyana and other Caribbean islands.

On Sunday night, Venezuela reported that local far-right extremists are planning to plant explosives at the closed United States embassy in Caracas in what it called a false flag operation. Jorge Rodríguez, the head of the Venezuelan Peace Dialogues process and president of the National Assembly, reported that Caracas warned the US government about the intelligence report using three different channels. An incident of this caliber could be used to justify a direct US military action against Venezuela. “As Venezuela’s head of dialogue and peace, I want to announce that we have warned the US government through three different channels of a serious threat, a false flag operation orchestrated by extremist sectors of the local far-right,” Rodríguez said.

The Aussies just trashed their relations with Iran based on nothing but obscure say-so. Australia throws out Iran ambassador over alleged antisemitic attacks Canberra expelled Tehran’s ambassador after accusing Iran of masterminding at least two antisemitic attacks on Australian soil. Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the country’s intelligence services had linked Iran’s military to arson attacks in Sydney and Melbourne, throwing out an ambassador for the first time since World War II, a move The Sydney Morning Herald’s national affairs editor dubbed “the diplomatic equivalent of the nuclear option.” Iran rejected the charge. I have searched and read several news pieces on this issue and have found no mention of any fact that would connect two months ago arson incidents in Australia with Iran.

Omani customs authorities seized a shipment of drones hidden in a truck from the UAE heading for Yemen on 10 January. “The Directorate General of Customs seized a truck at the Hafeet crossing loaded with wireless drones coming by transit system from the United Arab Emirates heading to the Republic of Yemen,” said the customs authorities. “Customs inspectors were able to discover the shipments hidden professionally in places specially prepared for smuggling them in the truck. The concerned authorities began investigating the case in order to complete the rest of the legal procedures against the suspects,” the authorities added.

Wednesday’s report by corporate media outlet Yahoo News, outlining alleged plans by Iran to assassinate senior US officials, including former President Donald Trump, in retaliation for the January 2020 drone strike killing of Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s elite Quds Force unit, should come as little surprise to onlookers. Indeed, following the assassination of the Iranian General, the Islamic Republic responded by firing a barrage of ballistic missiles at the US Ain al-Asad airbase in neighbouring Iraq, leaving 110 US servicemen with ‘traumatic brain injuries’ according to The White House, a euphemism for deaths according to Tehran. Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi also reiterated in January of this year that unless Trump and then-US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are handed over for trial - an admittedly highly-unlikely scenario - that Tehran would pursue revenge through other means, leaving no doubt as to the lengths that the Islamic Republic is prepared to go in order to avenge its’ foremost military commander.

Millions of dead Vietnamese later and a generation of US military veterans that have killed themselves since then at a race that is over twice the number (around 58k) that were killed in country, the people of the US and the war machine are still at it! For its entire existence, but especially with the advent of the spreading cancer of US imperialist around the turn of the last century, the US military industrial complex has metastasized out of control and it seems incapable of leaving any country in peace, or unstained by its filthy military bases.
