‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’: The World Cup As An International Psy-Op

The world watched in horror. Day after day, people around the world were bombarded with images of a level of brutality rarely witnessed in real time: human beings burned alive; families desperately digging through mountains of rubble in search of loved ones trapped beneath what had once been their homes; apocalyptic scenes of hundreds of starving Palestinians herded into fenced enclosures like cattle, waiting at what were cynically called "feeding stations" operated by shadowy organizations funded by the United States. Then came the scenes of people running for their lives as those same feeding stations became death traps, with armed men firing indiscriminately into crowds of Palestinians whose only crime was the desire to live freely on their land, free from colonial domination.

Iran Warns Of World Cup Suspensions Over Political Symbols

Iran is warning that it will suspend its team’s matches at the 2026 World Cup if “unofficial” flags or political slogans are seen or heard at stadiums. Moreover, the team is referring to the Lion and Sun flag. The flag in question is recognised as an anti-government symbol. It is popular among some — though not all — dissidents and supporters of the Pahlavi monarchy. Reuters quoted Iranian media as saying Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali confirmed that Iran had informed FIFA of the need to prevent such incidents.

FIFA Is Supporting The Israeli Occupation

If you take this long to investigate something, there is a good chance you are hiding something. FIFA and UEFA, it turns out, have been hiding several things. Ten, to be precise. That is the number of illegal Israeli settlement clubs now operating in the occupied West Bank, at least seven of them playing on land that should fall under the jurisdiction of the Palestine Football Association (Palestine FA). There are also three clubs in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. FIFA promised to investigate illegal settlement clubs in October 2024 amid accusations they breach FIFA and UEFA territorial integrity and anti-racism statutes.

Boycott The 2026 World Cup Games Scheduled For The United States

The Black Alliance for Peace’s North-South Project for People(s)-Centered Human Rights (the Project) raised the issue months ago of the fundamental inappropriateness of the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup being hosted in the United States. The Project argued that the U.S. human rights record—including blatant actions globally that constitute crimes against humanity, war crimes, and complicity in genocide, along with the systematic abuse of the human rights of migrants, immigrants, and even U.S. citizens domestically through the unleashing of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE)—renders the United States ineligible to host the games.

This Is the People’s Game; They’re Turning It Into the Plutocrats’ Game

With FIFA, the governing body of association football, concocting a FIFA Peace Prize—described as “recognizing individuals for exceptional contributions to peace and unity”—in order to award it to Donald Trump; along with revelations of corruption, collusion, bribery, involving official bodies and executives; and now ticket prices for this year’s World Cup being called not just excessive, but “extortionate,” you might say more folks are following football (or soccer) these days, but not so much as fans. Though, certainly, there are still plenty of fans, a great number of whom will be arriving here in my area in a few weeks time.

On Nakba Day, A Call In Boston To ‘Boycott The US!’

We are here to honor the martyrs of al-Nakba — the Catastrophe — that began 78 years ago and to raise a fist in absolute solidarity with the ongoing Palestinian Resistance! We are also here to honor and support Palestine’s allies in the global struggle — the people of Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, Cuba, Venezuela, the Sahel — all the countries and peoples resisting the decades of terror-bombing, deadly sanctions and starvation inflicted by the Zionist and U.S. regimes. So what can we do here, in the heart of the U.S. empire, in the belly of the beast, which is responsible for the global carnage?

Palestine Land Day Commemoration Demands: ‘FIFA – Move The World Cup!’

Boston — At a press conference on the front steps of Boston City Hall Plaza timed to coincide with Palestine Land Day, member organizations of the Boston Coalition for Palestine (BCFP) and allies announced today they are joining the international call to “Boycott the U.S.” for its war crimes in Cuba. Iran, Palestine, Venezuela  and elsewhere.  Speakers demanded that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) move its scheduled 2026 World Cup games out of U.S. cities, including Boston, where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) searches at the airports and kidnappings in the streets have created unsafe conditions for the world’s football fans, players and other travelers.

International Coalition Calls On FIFA To Move Games From The US

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 now 100 days away, an international coalition has launched a coordinated boycott campaign demanding that FIFA move matches from the United States. The Coalition warns that US thuggery is creating a humanitarian crisis, both domestic and international. International sport is not neutral. Mega-sporting events function as instruments of political legitimation. To host global sporting events is not merely a logistical privilege — it is a declaration of belonging within the international community.

Calls Mount For ‘FIFA And World Cup Out Of The US!’

Antiwar and human rights activists in 11 U.S. cities — Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle — are gearing up for a campaign to demand that Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) move World Cup soccer games out of the U.S. because of its war crimes around the world.  For the world’s peace-loving peoples, the call to “Boycott the U.S.!” is especially poignant while marauding, masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other Dept. of Homeland Security storm troopers continue their war at home against the world’s immigrant workers, foreign-born students and tourists.

The World Cup Is Coming; Our Cities Must Protect Their People

Soccer is called the world’s game because it is truly global and belongs to everyone. The kids playing barefoot in the park, the fans in the cheap seats, the communities that turn every match into a block party. This year, the FIFA Men’s World Cup will bring that game to our own cities: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York-New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. This is a moment that should unite us with pride and joy, but too often, the institutions and unaccountable elites behind the sport build walls where there should be open fields.

Risk Level Four: Do Not Travel To The United States

We are issuing a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory for the United States ahead of the World Cup. Before FIFA has people traveling from all over the world to come to the U.S. to watch soccer, the truth needs to be made known. The World Cup is supposed to bring people together. But in June 2026, FIFA plans to host matches in the United States, a country where travel from other nations is no longer safe. The conditions now present in the U.S., including a high risk of arbitrary detention, political violence, lack of due process, and state coercion, meet the very criteria used to warn its own citizens about travel to other countries. That is why we are issuing our own travel advisory.

World Cup Boycott Calls Grow In Response To Trump

The drums of protest and calls to boycott the 2026 FIFA World Cup are beating louder in the United States. Thousands of fans are expressing concern about the tournament’s security, outrage over the armed attack in Venezuela, and the controversial human rights policies of the Donald Trump administration. According to European media, messages promoting ticket cancellations on resale forums, travel agencies, and hotel booking sites have not only prompted extraordinary meetings between officials and representatives of member associations, but have also generated discussions about potential strategies to address the shifting perceptions surrounding the tournament.

FIFA: The Beautiful Game Cannot Support Genocide And Repression

The Black Alliance for Peace North South Project for People(s)-Centered Human Rights delivered a message to FIFA's President and Head of Human Rights regarding the ongoing and rapidly deteriorating human rights conditions in Palestine, as well as current conditions in the United States that BAP believes makes the United States a dangerous nation for citizens and residents of foreign nations to visit. In that communication we made the argument that because of the ongoing genocide and the role of the U.S. as a facilitator of that genocide, as well as the unsafe and hostile conditions in the U.S. that has compelled a number of nations to issue advisories against travel to the U.S., we called on FIFA to ban the United States and Israel from hosting and participating in international competition, and to relocate the 2025 World Cup from the United States.

FIFA And IOC Must Ban The US And Israel From International Sporting Events

The United States has become dangerous for members of the global community, and specifically for non-white/non-European people. The world is witnessing massive violations of human rights and the Constitution of the United States as masked agents using unmarked vehicles raid work places, homes, and places of public assembly to incarcerate and disappear Black, Brown, and Indigenous people and, in too many cases, denying them legal representation and basic information as to their whereabouts and wellbeing to their families and attorneys. Under the current U.S administration anyone suspected of residing in and/or visiting the United States with or without “proper” documentation, including U.S. citizens, are being harassed, questioned about their political beliefs and even detained without due process.
