How Pennsylvania Governor’s Office Helped Push For Huge Data Centers

Freedom Hall, packed with more than 200 people, was jammed to capacity. Hundreds more people gathered in the lobby in stifling heat, many wearing “No Data Centers” stickers on their T-shirts. Inside the meeting room, Pennsylvania real estate executive Brian O’Neill was presenting plans for an enormous data center complex to the Upper Merion Township Planning Commission. An improvised sound system piped his voice to those stuck outside. “We make cell and gene therapies which cure genetic diseases and cancer,” O’Neill said, referring to his company’s Discovery Labs medical research center in Upper Merion which he now wants to augment with AI data centers.

Protesters Bring ‘Conejo’ Hats And Sanctuary State Demands To Governor

Saint Paul, MN – On Wednesday, May 27, the Minnesota Immigrant Rights Action Committee (MIRAC) brought its demands for a sanctuary state executive order to the office of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, along with dozens of blue bunny hats that they left on the floor outside of his office. MIRAC has been calling on Governor Walz to issue an executive order making Minnesota a sanctuary state and on all gubernatorial candidates to commit to implementing statewide sanctuary policies. With no response from Walz, the group took their demands to his office in person.

Virginia AFL-CIO: Spanberger’s Veto Is Betrayal Of Working People

Today, Governor Abigail Spanberger turned her back on working people across the Commonwealth by vetoing legislation that would have finally guaranteed public sector workers the right to collectively bargain. This veto is a devastating betrayal to the hundreds of thousands of public employees who have spent years, and in many cases decades, fighting for a seat at the table. Teachers. Firefighters. Home care workers. State employees. Public servants who are the pillars of our communities and who keep Virginia running through crisis after crisis are being told yet again that their voices do not matter.

Community Calls On Governor/AG To ‘Stay Out Of County Prosecutions’

Minneapolis, Minnesota – Police associations and pro-police members of Congress are pressuring Minnesota’s governor to wrest prosecuting power away from Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty over her decision to charge State Trooper Ryan Londregan with murder for the July 2023 fatal shooting of Ricky Cobb II. Minneapolis community groups and leaders have since crafted statements and an op-ed, published below, in support of Moriarty, formerly a public defender whom residents elected in 2022 after her campaign focused on police accountability.
