In 2016, my best friend, Sergio, and I opened P.A.R.C. (Politics, Art, Roots, Culture), a community and cultural center located in the deindustrialized landscape of Michigan City, Indiana. Like so many towns and cities throughout the Rust Belt, Michigan City was once a vibrant manufacturing hub, where people worked for the railroad companies, steel mills, and various manufacturing plants scattered about the region. Over the decades, however, Michigan City fell victim to neoliberal economic policies. Its population significantly decreased due to the offshoring of good-paying union jobs.

Talia Rose starts their shift at Oakland International Airport (OAK) at 3:00 a.m., unloading same-day packages from UPS planes. Across the tarmac, they watch FedEx planes come and go. “I never had any idea what the hell is on those planes besides big metal containers that carry packages,” Rose said. But that would change in August, when Rose attended a local organizing forum where a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) presented a soon-to-be-public report titled “Exposing Oakland’s Military Cargo Shipments to Israel.”

Just days after the Zionist entity of “Israel” signed the ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, numerous violations were already reported, including the firing on civilians, the blocking of the full amount of daily aid convoys promised, and failure to withdraw soldiers from all areas stipulated in the ceasefire. After two years of outright genocide and over 75 years of an openly racist settler colonial regime enacting apartheid law, there is little to be surprised about regarding “Israel’s” behavior. The question is not why "Israel" has repeatedly violated its own agreements and international law, as that is to be expected from a rogue entity committing genocide.
