Hind Rajab Foundation Asks US To Arrest Ben-Gvir During NY Visit

The Hind Rajab Foundation has called on the U.S. to investigate Israel’s far right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir for war crimes ahead of his visit to New York City in early July. On Saturday, the Belgium-based foundation filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice, stating that the U.S. has the jurisdiction and the legal obligation to investigate, arrest, and prosecute Ben-Gvir during his visit to New York City. Ben-Gvir is set to attend the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit on July 7 and 8 in the city. Ben-Gvir must be prosecuted for his involvement in war crimes, the foundation stated, including crimes against U.S. nationals.

Hind Rajab Foundation Calls On United States To Arrest Israeli Soldier

On 16 June, the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) formally requested that the US Department of Justice arrest and prosecute US-Israeli dual national Jake Burkons, who is currently attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup, over war crimes committed in Gaza. The foundation states that Burkons is involved in war crimes and acts of genocide committed in the Gaza Strip. This action follows a criminal complaint filed by the group last month in Sri Lanka, where Burkons had been vacationing. The report details that Burkons served in Company D of the 603rd Combat Engineering Battalion, a unit within the 7th Armored Brigade of the Israeli army, and had enlisted voluntarily following the launch of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza on 7 October 2023.

The Hind Rajab Foundation’s (HRF) complaint against the European Investment Bank (EIB) for alleged complicity in Israeli war crimes has advanced to a formal assessment phase within the bank’s Complaints Mechanism (EIB-CM), Anadolu Agency reported on 4 November. HRF said the step is not merely procedural but represents “a political and legal milestone” and “a turning point,” forcing a European institution to reckon with its role in grave breaches of international law.  The group described it as one of the first legal actions within the European Union that directly challenges the financial complicity of an EU institution in Israeli war crimes.
