International Criminal Court (ICC)

The US Government As Gravedigger-In-Chief Of International Law

In the last few days, the US government has escalated its campaign to destroy the rule of international law, and particularly the International Criminal Court. State-sanctioned threats, bullying and xenophobia – from US government officials and publicized in the media – have gone wild and unchecked. On 13 July 2026, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio launched the “Campaign to Dismantle the ICC’s Threat to American Sovereignty”. In an address, Mr. Rubio declared the ICC a “threat to American sovereignty”. He vowed that if foreign bureaucrats and judges try to deprive the US of its “birthright of independence”, “we will teach them the full meaning of American resolve.”

Washington Launches Campaign To Dismantle, Isolate ICC

The White House has launched a sweeping campaign to dismantle the International Criminal Court (ICC) in a drive to shield officials and soldiers from any prosecution over war crimes committed abroad, US State Secretary Marco Rubio announced on 13 July. Rubio cast the campaign against the ICC as a “defense of US sovereignty,” dismissing the ICC as "a global tribunal staffed by unelected globalist bureaucrats" waging "a war against our country... with statutes and compacts and the force of so-called international law." Rubio said US soldiers and border agents would otherwise face prosecution "for the so-called crime of defending their own country," vowing that if the court and its allies "believe they can deprive us of our sovereignty, we will teach them the full meaning of American resolve."

Palestine Activists Celebrate A Win Outside The United Nations

On May 31, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir marched down Fifth Avenue as a part of New York City’s annual Israel Day Parade. He was joined by many of the state’s most prominent Democratic politicians including Governor Kathy Hochul, Senator Chuck Schumer and Attorney General Leticia James. In another sign of collapsing support for Israel, Ben-Gvir cancelled a planned appearance at the UN on Tuesday in the face of a flurry of protests led by the Palestine Youth Movement-coordinated “Stop Ben-Gvir Campaign.”

ICC Judges Launch Legal Challenge Against US Sanctions

Three judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) have filed a lawsuit against the US government over sanctions in connection with judicial decisions on investigations involving Israel and the US, Dutch broadcaster NOS reported on Thursday. The judges, who are from Canada, Uganda and Benin, submitted their case to a federal court in Manhattan, saying that the sanctions are unlawful and constitute an attack on judicial independence. The sanctions, introduced by Washington last year, include financial restrictions and visa bans targeting the judges and other ICC personnel involved in investigations concerning war crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Global Sumud Flotilla Submits Accounts Of iOF Crimes To The ICC

The Hague, Netherlands — A delegation of legal representatives, victims and medical personnel from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) submitted an official communication to the International Criminal Court (ICC) accusing israeli military commanders and top political leaders of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, torture and conduct relevant to the execution of the crime of genocide. The crimes detailed in the communication arose from the unlawful and violent interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla’s vessels on 29-30 April 2026 and on 18-19 May 2026 which involved serious human rights and humanitarian law violations against unarmed civilian volunteers by israeli Occupation Forces (iOF).

Resolution 194 pursuant to Article 15 of the Rome Statute Concerning the Ongoing Denial of the Right of Return of Palestinian Refugees by signing the following petition. We, the undersigned, call upon the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICC to initiate an investigation pursuant to Article 15 of the Rome Statute into the ongoing crimes associated with the forced displacement of the Palestinian people and the systematic denial of their right to return to their homes and lands since 1948.

ICC Issues Arrest Warrants For Five Additional Senior Israeli Officials

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued secret arrest warrants for three Israeli politicians and two military officials, Haaretz reported on 17 May, citing diplomatic sources. The timing of their issuance is unknown. The ICC has often issued arrest warrants in secret, publicly announcing them only later to enable a possible arrest of the suspect. Israel’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and State Attorney’s Office do not respond immediately to requests for comment. The Hague-based court issued arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former War Minister Yoav Gallant in November 2024.

Iranian Group Submits Evidence Of US-Israeli War Crimes To ICC

The head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society said Saturday that his organization has submitted evidence of US-Israeli war crimes to the International Criminal Court and other global bodies, seeking accountability for massive attacks on civilian infrastructure and other violations. “The ICC prosecutor announced that the documents provided by the IRCS are accepted as official evidence,” said Pir-Hossein Koulivand, the head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society. “All cases of attacks on civilians are being legally pursued based on the Geneva Conventions.”

Washington Imposes ‘Terrorist-Grade Sanctions’ On Francesca Albanese, Judges

White House officials have used “terrorist-grade sanctions” to target officials from the International Criminal Court (ICC) and UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories, Francesca Albanese, freezing assets and disrupting war crimes investigations, Reuters reported on 6 February. According to interviews the news agency conducted with U.S. and UN officials and sanctioned individuals, Washington is seeking to penalize the ICC over investigations into US and Israeli war crimes. The effort to target the UN and ICC came in response to requests from at least two US tech companies involved in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

ICC’s Karim Khan Says ‘Senior UK Official’ Threatened Him

The British chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, has accused a senior British government official of threatening to withdraw the UK's funding and support for the court if he pursued arrest warrants against Israeli leaders. Middle East Eye understands the official to be the then foreign secretary and former prime minister David Cameron.  The allegation is contained in a statement submitted by Khan to the court which describes details of an alleged campaign of threats faced by the prosecutor in the leadup to his office requesting warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant in May 2024 over alleged war crimes in Gaza.

Spain To Submit ICC Complaint Against Israel Over Attack On Flotilla

Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska announced on 7 October that Madrid will submit a formal complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over Israel’s kidnapping of hundreds of activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. Grande-Marlaska said any assault on civilians in international waters constitutes an act of unlawful detention under both Spanish and international law. On Sunday, 29 Spanish activists who were part of the flotilla landed in Madrid after being detained by Israeli forces in international waters. Many of the activists were subjected to “physical and psychological ill-treatment” while in detention.

Israeli PM Gets A New York Welcome Outside The United Nations

As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to a half-empty room at the UN General Assembly, thousands of protesters were gathered in Times Square to condemn his presence in New York City. Netanyahu was issued an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in November 2024, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in Gaza since October 2023. All members of the ICC, which includes the United States, are legally obliged to enforce the warrants, though Hungary, an Israeli ally, has officially begun the process of withdrawal from the ICC. The Israeli prime minister gave a combative speech to a nearly empty UN General Assembly hall on Friday, where he portrayed himself as the standard-bearer of mainstream Israel in rejecting the creation of a Palestinian state and denouncing Israel's genocide in Gaza as “a joke”.

AES Countries Exit ICC, Denounce It As Instrument Of Neo-Colonial Repression

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) announced its immediate withdrawal from the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday, condemning it as a tool of “imperialism”, silent about the worst crimes by the West and its allies while selectively pursuing its opponents. Ratifying the Rome Statute in the early 2000s, its three member countries – Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger – have been members of the ICC for over three decades. “However, over time, they have come to observe that this jurisdiction has transformed into an instrument of neo-colonial repression in the hands of imperialism, thereby becoming the global example of selective justice,” states the AES communique on September 22.

Report Reveals Israel’s Intimidation Campaign Against ICC Chief

An investigative report has uncovered an intensifying intimidation campaign targeting British ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, revealing extraordinary details of threats and warnings aimed at forcing him to drop the probe into Israeli war crimes in Gaza. The report published by the Middle East Eye (MEE) on Friday revealed that Khan has been warned to withdraw arrest warrants for the Israeli regime’s leadership over the occupying entity’s genocidal war crimes in Gaza, or he and the top tribunal would be “destroyed.” According to the report, the warning was delivered in May to Khan by Nicholas Kaufman, a British-Israeli defense lawyer linked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s adviser, during a meeting with Khan and his wife, Shyamala Alagendra, at a hotel in The Hague.

Are We Witnessing The Collapse Of International Law?

These past thirty years, the proponents of the Unipolar World have proceeded to methodically dismantle the norms, principles and diplomatic usages to such an extent that contemporary international relations are characterized by social media postings. First, UN resolutions have been construed to provide a veneer of legality to wars of choice against UN Member-States such as Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen. These gross violations of AA 2(4) of the UN Charter proceeded out of a deliberate intent to shirk the core principles of the UN Charter such as respect for national sovereignty and the peaceful resolution of international disputes.
