The World Federation of Trade Unions issues a militant, class-oriented and internationalist call to its member organizations and trade unions around the world to make the 2nd International Day of Action of Dockworkers on Oct. 30, 2026, their own cause and support it. The mobilization is taking place at a critical time, as military conflicts are spreading and war fronts are dangerously expanding and becoming interconnected, from Ukraine to the Middle East. The murderous state of Israel, with the support of the U.S., the European Union and NATO, continues its crime against the Palestinian people and escalates its military aggression against Iran and Lebanon, increasing the danger of an even broader conflict.

Every year, during this month La Via Campesina reminds the world of the sacrifice of Korean farmer Lee Kyung Hae, who took his life in Cancun in 2003 outside the gates of the WTO Ministerial Conference venue. His action that day was among the loudest expressions of peasant despair, frustration, and resistance against a neoliberal global order; an order that since then has devastated rural food systems, captured our territories and seeds, and impoverished peasant families.  To state plainly, neoliberalism is about protecting capitalism from the peoples.

Nonviolent solutions are everywhere! Tens of thousands of people are joining the annual Campaign Nonviolence Action Days from September 21 to October 2. For 13 years, Campaign Nonviolence has been rallying tens of thousands of people each year to take action to build a culture of peace and active nonviolence, free from war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction. Spanning the 12 days from the International Day of Peace to the International Day of Nonviolence, the international campaign will highlight what nonviolence looks like on the structural or systemic level.

Dockworkers unions in France, Greece, Basque Country, Turkey, Morocco, and Italy are calling an international day of action ​“against war and militarization” on October 30. They are demanding an end to ​“the genocide of the Palestinian people” and the ​“US-Israeli wars of aggression in the Middle East and against Iran.” “Each union will decide the most appropriate form of mobilization according to its national circumstances, starting from strike action and from a shared commitment to prevent the loading of death and destruction,” reads a joint statement from the unions.

Workers are gathering in cities around the world to mark International Labour Day, with some demonstrations, such as those in Istanbul, Turkiye, turning to scuffles with police. Trade Unions are calling for solidarity and the protection of workers’ rights as the United States-Israeli war on Iran and rising energy costs raise concerns about the global economy. “Working people refuse to pay the price for Donald Trump’s war in the Middle East,” the European Trade Union Confederation, which represents 93 trade union organisations in 41 European countries, told the media.

On February 28, 2026, US and Israeli forces launched joint military strikes against Iran, a criminal and reckless act of war following years of sanctions and hybrid warfare aimed at regime change. This display of US arrogance and aggression aims at imposing Western dominance and preventing the region’s resurgence. It comes during bad-faith negotiations by the US over manufactured “threats,” the largest US military buildup in the region since 2003, and follows two and a half years of genocide in Gaza, escalating violence in the West Bank, regime change in Syria, and assaults on Yemen and Lebanon. 

Dockworkers In Mediterranean Ports Announce Coordinated Antiwar Action

Workers in more than 20 Mediterranean ports are preparing for an international day of action on February 6 to oppose the growing militarization of transport infrastructure, as well as port management’s and governments’ complicity in the genocide in Gaza. “If we don’t take this step, all our other demands will be crushed under war,” Francesco Staccioli of the Italian union Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) warned during a launch event on Tuesday. The mobilization aims to prevent arms shipments, reject rearmament, and oppose the impact of a war economy on workers’ rights and social security systems. Notably, the day of action is being launched to “ensure that European and Mediterranean ports are places of peace, free from any involvement in war,” according to an earlier announcement.

Global Day Of Solidarity With Venezuela Against US Interventionism

The Global Day of Solidarity with Venezuela and for Peace in Latin America and the Caribbean was held in locations around the world. On Saturday, August 30, mass organizations, political parties, and social movements from various countries united under the slogan “Venezuela is not a threat, Venezuela is a hope” to express their support for Venezuela and peace in Latin America. The solidarity event comes in response to the recent interventionist actions and threats by the United States Government against the Venezuelan people and government, which include the deployment of military vessels in the Caribbean Sea as an excuse for intervention and destabilization, as well as the increase of a bounty on President Nicolás Maduro’s head, whom the US falsely accuses of association with drug trafficking.

Actions In 70 US Cities: ‘Hands Off Iran And West Asia! Free Palestine!’

Although there is a temporary “ceasefire” in the U.S./Israeli effort to destroy Iran, many groups internationally are determined to stay mobilized. The horrific genocide in Palestine, both in Gaza and the West Bank, continues, as do plots against Iran.  There were more than 65 actions around the world listed on the website of the United National Antiwar Coalition, based on a call from Global Resistance for a week of actions June 21 to 28. Internationally actions were held in the Philippines, Bangladesh, Japan, Norway, Denmark, Germany, India, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Sweden. Across Canada there were multiple actions, from Vancouver to Hamilton, Ontario.  In the U.S. the week of actions stretched coast to coast.
