The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, commemorated Saturday the 24th anniversary of the 2002 failed far-right coup against President Hugo Chávez by emphasizing that the Venezuelan people reject fascism and remain steadfast in defense of their sovereignty. On Saturday, April 11, speaking at the Cotiza neighborhood in Caracas, Rodríguez noted that the upcoming April 13 celebration would mark the restoration of constitutional order, just as it did 24 years ago. “Every 11th has its 13th, and on the 13th we will be celebrating the restoration of democracy,” the acting president said.

The campaign inaugurated its first activities by launching an international petition, which states: “We, the liberation movements, organizations, parties, associations, and solidarity forces signing below, firmly condemn the repeated Zionist aggression against the Lebanese people and the cowardly Israeli policy of assassinations targeting leaders of the Lebanese resistance in broad daylight, with open support from U.S. and imperialist powers in the region and the world.”

Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced on 12 November fresh attacks against US warships in the Red Sea, including the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group. “We targeted the US aircraft carrier Lincoln located in the Arabian Sea with several cruise missiles and drones while it was preparing to launch operations against our country. The operation successfully achieved its objectives,” the spokesman said. Saree also confirmed that a second “successful” operation targeted “two US destroyers in the Red Sea using ballistic missiles and drones.“

Shortly after President Cunningham started working at our university, she and the Board of Regents held an emergency meeting, a week before students returned to campus, where they passed a policy of neutrality for the UMN endowment. Regent Jamie Meyron introduced the institutional neutrality policy declaring the University’s endowment funds “politically neutral”, effectively making it impossible for students to campaign for the University to divest from certain companies. In this same meeting, they resurrected restrictive protest policies, including banning unpermitted protests of more than 100 people and the use of more than one sound amplification device, and put size limits on signs and banners.

A group of approximately 50 Black Muslim leaders have signed a statement urging Black and Muslim American voters to shun Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the White House and instead back candidates who support a ceasefire in Gaza and an arms embargo on Israel. The new statement, first reported by Middle East Eye, is the latest effort from Muslim community leaders - from imams to scholars, to activists to politicians - telling voters not to choose Vice President Harris in the upcoming November election over her unwillingness to commit to policy changes that would hold Israel accountable for its ongoing war on Gaza and now Lebanon, which has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese people.
