Mass protests were held in Athens against US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Greece, as his trip coincides with the sixth round of the Greece-US Strategic Dialogue and expected agreements on new US weapons purchases by Athens. A large number of demonstrators, including representatives of trade unions, student associations, and political parties, gathered in central Athens on Tuesday and marched toward the US embassy as part of an anti-war rally held ahead of Rubio’s visit, according to Greek media. Dimitris Koutsoumbas, leader of the Communist Party of Greece, participated in the demonstration.
