As Security Council Stalls, There Are Ways To Stop US-Israeli War On Iran

Already 555 Iranians — including 180 students at a girls’ elementary school in Minab — have been reported dead in the war of aggression launched February 28 by President Donald Trump and his accomplice, accused war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, against Iran. “Operation Epic Fury involves the largest regional concentration of American military firepower in a generation,” U.S. Central Command said in a statement. This aggression has destabilized the region and triggered Iran’s legitimate exercise of self-defense.

Briefing To UN Security Council On US Aggression Against Venezuela

The issue before the Council today is not the character of the government of Venezuela. The issue is whether any Member State—by force, coercion, or economic strangulation—has the right to determine Venezuela’s political future or to exercise control over its affairs. This question goes directly to Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. The Council must decide whether that prohibition is to be upheld or abandoned. Abandoning it would carry consequences of the gravest kind.

Brazil Calls Emergency CELAC Meeting In Response To US Attack

The Brazilian government has called for an emergency meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to address the US attack against Venezuela and the illegal abduction of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. The acting foreign affairs minister of Brazil, María Laura da Rocha, stated on Saturday, January 3, that “a ministerial meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States has been convened tomorrow [Sunday] at 2:00 p.m. local time in Brasilia, in which all countries of the region will participate.”

Trump Attempts To ‘Close’ Venezuela’s Airspace With Imaginary Decree

In a bizarre social media post on Saturday, November 29, US President Donald Trump issued a warning amid escalating military action and pressure on Venezuela and President Nicolás Maduro: “To all airlines, pilots, drug dealers and human traffickers, please consider the airspace above and surrounding Venezuela to be closed in its entirety.” This unprecedented attempt at an air blockade is another step in the escalating aggression that Washington is carrying out against Venezuela. However, experts in international law emphasize that Trump does not have the authority to close the airspace of another sovereign country, as that power belongs solely to the state that exercises sovereignty over its territory or to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
