Trump Says A ‘Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight’ In Iran

Raising Fears of a Nuclear Strike.

The president’s latest threats have led to calls for the invocation of the 25th Amendment to remove him from power.

President Trump on Tuesday issued another threat against Iran, saying a “whole civilization will die tonight,” raising fears that he’s threatening to use nuclear weapons.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will,” the president wrote on Truth Social. He went on to reference his deadline that he previously set for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or agree to some sort of diplomatic deal by 8 pm EST tonight, but there’s no sign that real negotiations are taking place.

“However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump added.

Trump has previously threatened that if a deal isn’t reached by tonight, he will order strikes to destroy all of Iran’s power plants and bridges, and he has also suggested he may bomb desalination plants. While visiting Hungary on Tuesday, Vice President JD Vance backed Trump’s threats.

“We’re going to get a response from the Iranians by 8 o’clock tonight. I hope they make the right response … They’ve got to know, we’ve got tools in our toolkit that we so far haven’t decided to use. The president of the United States can decide to use them, and he will decide to use them if the Iranians don’t change their course of conduct,” Vance said.

The US-Israeli war against Iran and Trump’s rhetoric have led to calls for the 25th Amendment to be invoked to remove him from power, including from former allies. But such a step would require Vance and the majority of Trump’s cabinet to declare that Trump is unfit to serve, and there doesn’t appear to be any dissent at that level.

“25TH AMENDMENT!!!” former House Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on X on Tuesday in response to Trump’s latest threat. “Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.”

Some sitting members of Congress are also calling for Trump’s removal. “We need to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove Trump,” Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) said in a video posted on Tuesday morning. “Threatening war crimes is a blatant violation of our constitution and the Geneva Conventions.”

The president’s post on Tuesday marked the second day in a row that he issued a warning that could be taken as a threat to use nuclear weapons. “The entire country could be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow night,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Statement of the Islamic Republic of Iran ☫ The great Iranian nation should know that, thanks to the struggle of its sons and their historic presence on the battlefield against the enemy, Iran and the Resistance have been calling for over a month to stop this ferocious attack. However, the country’s officials, starting from their initial decision to continue the war until achieving the objectives—including inflicting defeat on the enemy and weakening it, and removing the long-term threat facing the country—have rejected all these demands, and the war has continued to this day, the fortieth day. Iran has also repeatedly rejected the deadlines set by the U.S. President and continues to emphasize that it pays no attention to any deadline from the enemy. And now, we herald to the great Iranian nation that we have nearly achieved all the war’s objectives, and that your brave sons have led the enemy into a historic impasse and crushing defeat. Iran’s historic decision, backed by the entire Iranian people, is to continue this battle as long as necessary until its great achievements are solidified and new security and political equations are built in the region based on recognition of Iran’s power, sovereignty, and resistance. In this regard, and based on the advice of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei (may God protect him), and the approval of the Supreme National Security Council, and given Iran’s and the Resistance’s superiority on the battlefield, the enemy’s inability to carry out its threats despite all its claims, and the official acceptance of all the legitimate demands of the Iranian people, it has been decided to hold negotiations in Islamabad to put the final touches on the details, so that, within a maximum of 15 days, and after completing the final touches on the details of Iran’s victory on the battlefield, political negotiations can begin. In this context, Iran has rejected all plans presented by the enemy and has put forward a ten-point plan submitted to the American side via Pakistan, emphasizing key points such as organized passage through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with the Iranian Armed Forces, which will grant Iran a unique economic and geopolitical position, the necessity of ending the war against all elements of the Resistance Axis—which means a historic defeat for the child-killing Israeli regime’s aggression—and the withdrawal of U.S. combat forces from all bases and deployment points in the region, the establishment of a safe passage protocol in the Strait of Hormuz in a manner that ensures Iran’s dominance according to the agreed protocol, full payment of Iran’s compensations according to the estimates, lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions and decisions of the Governors Council and the Security Council, the release of all frozen Iranian assets and properties abroad, and finally ratification of all these matters in a binding Security Council resolution. It should be noted that ratification of this resolution will transform all these agreements into binding international law and will represent a major diplomatic victory for the Iranian nation. The esteemed Prime Minister of Pakistan has informed Iran that the American side, despite all the overt threats, has accepted these principles as the basis for negotiations and has submitted to the will of the Iranian people. Accordingly, it has been decided at the highest levels that Iran will conduct negotiations with the American side in Islamabad for two weeks, based solely on these principles. It is emphasized that this does not mean the end of the war, and Iran will not accept its conclusion until the details of the ten-point plan are finalized, taking into account its acceptance of the principles it has outlined. These negotiations will begin in Islamabad on Friday, April 11, amid complete distrust of the American side, and Iran will allocate two weeks for these negotiations. This period can be extended by agreement of both parties. It is essential to maintain complete national unity during this period and to continue the victory celebrations with full force. The ongoing negotiations are national negotiations and an extension of the field negotiations, and it is necessary for all members of the people, from elites to political groups, to trust this process and support it, as it is under the supervision of the Revolution’s leaders and the highest levels of the system, and to completely avoid any inflammatory statements. If the enemy’s surrender in the field is a decisive political achievement in the negotiations, we will celebrate this great historic victory together; otherwise, we will fight side by side in the field until all the Iranian people’s demands are fulfilled.
