New and Expanded: Acronym TV shifts to 30-minute weekly format, needs your support.
Do you see the popular resistance growing in the US? Chances are that you don’t because mass media doesn’t cover it. That is why we must be the media.
In order to bring you the latest resistance news, a new and expanded Acronym TV, produced in conjunction with PopularResistance.org is expanding to a weekly 30-minute format.
You may remember Dennis Trainor, Jr. from Freedom Plaza and many of the occupations that he visited. He produced the feature-length film, American Autumn: An OccuDoc. Prior to that, he produced the film, Manifest Destiny’s Child. And he just completed a series of videos for Move to Amend.
The premiere episode of the new resistance program will air this Friday, July 26. You can find it on both AcronymTV.com and PopularResistance.org.
To help cover the production expenses of this new program, Acronym TV has just launched a $15,000 fundraising campaign.
The Brightwater Fund grant to Popular Resistance has just committed to a matching grant of $1 for every $2 we raise up to $5,000.
*** Funds raised will help cover expenses in time, talent and resources to create a weekly 30-minute program including: the addition of a few Acronym TV reporters, more “in-the field” coverage, a part-time editor/ associate producer + additional fixed expenses. ***
Premiering this Friday-July 26th, Acronym TV will create and distribute a weekly 30-minute program that highlights the growing culture of resistance here in the United States against our own Imperialism and the expanding security and surveillance state while also focuses on fights for economic equity, real democracy, environmental protection, and the emerging movement of movements both here in the United States and around the globe.
A significant inspiration for this sharpened focus and expanded content for Acronym TV is a website where I contribute content called PopularResistance.org whose mission, which I fully support, reads in part:
“With the corporate takeover of federal and state governments, more people are becoming politically active in new and creative ways. A growing culture of resistance is utilizing nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience as a primary tactic, and is forming real democratic organizations to empower local communities—as opposed to working within the corrupt, two-party system. PopularResistance.org seeks to aid in bringing movements for peace, justice, economic fairness and environmental protection together into an independent, nonviolent and diverse movement that can end the power of concentrated wealth, shift power to the people and put human needs before corporate greed.”
In addition to the mix of analysis, editorial commentary and interviews that you already enjoy, some of the funds raised will help us employ additional reporters working with Acronym TV. We will announce those names joining the team in the coming weeks.
Please give what you can – I have done everything possible to reduce expenses related to making the program, but there are expenses of resources, time, and talent.
Please chip in what you can- and then share this far and wide.
Thank you,
Dennis Trainor, Jr
