Occupy Gezi-Florida Rallies in Tampa

TAMPA, FL – About 50 demonstrators gathered in Curtis Hixon Park Saturday afternoon to stand in solidarity with Turkish protesters in Gezi Park in Istanbul. Turkish citizens have faced tear gas, rubber bullets and beatings at the hands of police as they prevented a construction project from destroying Gezi Park. In downtown Tampa, the group called themselves “Occupy Gezi-Florida” and spoke against Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s use of force to prevent protest.
