On June 20, 2015, the tech conference “Suits and Spooks” will be holding a discussion with none other than infamous snitch Sabu as their guest speaker. We want everyone to come out in solidarity with not only Jeremy, but the other members of LulzSec who were persecuted because of Sabu’s betrayal.
Bring signs, noisemakers, and banners – we will hold a gathering outside of SOHO House to remind the attendees of those who are still suffering while Sabu profits from his cowardly actions. (event page)
Sabu’s panel is at 3 PM. We will meet outside the hotel at around 2 PM.
No room for snitches and informants! We do not forget Jeremy Hammond!
If you can’t be in the streets in NYC, join @FreeJeremyNet on Saturday, 6/20, at 2PM New York time, for a #J20ForJeremy twitterstorm. Join us to make sure Jeremy Hammond’s voice is louder than Sabu’s. Look for our post of tweets to steal on the 20th, or participate in the information storm in your own way. #J20ForJeremy #FreeHammond #FuckSabu
Jeremy Hammond is a member of the hacktivist network Anonymous and a gifted computer programmer whose case has attracted the attention of activists, civil libertarians and those concerned about the rights of whistle-blowers. He is currently spending a decade in prison for allegedly disclosing information about the private intelligence firm Strategic Forecasting, Inc. (Stratfor), revealing that they had been spying on human rights defenders at the behest of corporations and governments. WikiLeaks published these files in partnership with 29 media organisations worldwide as the Global Intelligence Files.
After being threatened with 40 years to life in prison for his brave actions and suffering numerous injustices at the hands of the legal system, Jeremy accepted a non-cooperating plea deal to one count of violating the arcane and draconian Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Despite lodging nearly 265 letters of support calling for leniency, Jeremy was sentenced to the maximum allowed under his plea agreement and is currently serving his ten-year sentence at a medium-security federal prison in Manchester, Kentucky.
Since his arrest in March of 2012, Jeremy has been cut off from his friends and family, and punished with extensive stays in solitary confinement – treatment normally reserved for the most egregious offences. Jeremy did nothing for personal gain and everything in hope of making the world a better place. He needs our support now more than ever.
Sabu, aka Hector Xavier Monsegur, however is an informant working for the F.B.I. who has been tied to cyberattacksagainst foreign governments, but because he’s a snitch who sold out Jeremy Hammond, Anonymous, and his other friends, Sabu is not in prison and free to capitalize on his betrayals by giving interviews and speeches.
