Call For Proposals: Kosmos 2015 Seed Grants

KOSMOS 2015 SEED GRANTS INITIATIVE

Kosmos is pleased to announce a new grant-giving initiative. Two Kosmos Seed Grants of $2500 each will be awarded in early 2015 to individuals or organizations that are working to advance ‘transformation in harmony with all Life’.

The microgrants program, intended to be ongoing, is being developed in recognition that social change often begins with small acts in out-of-the-way places, by people working at the edge of transformation.

HONORING KOSMOS ORIGINS

“We needed just $2500 to print the first issue of Spirituality & Reality. It was 2001 and three of us from Africa, Asia, and North America shared a common concern to shift material to spiritual values at the United Nation to realize its mission of world peace. We had tried workshops, lectures and caucuses. Now we needed a tangible journal with lasting value that we could distribute globally. Lifebridge Foundation stepped forward with $2500 and made this possible.” – Nancy Roof, Kosmos Associates Founder

By 2003 the original founders had moved on to other projects except Nancy Roof who renamed the award-winning journal Kosmos. That initial grant empowered Kosmos to grow into the journal it is today.  In honor of this generous act, the Kosmos Seed Grants initiative was formed.

Guidelines for applicants are as follows:

  • Any individual or organization working toward social change may apply.

  • Projects should have a stated duration, with clear objectives and expected outcomes.

  • Applicants should describe a clear and direct use of the funds and the impact it will have (i.e., not in funding general operations or overhead costs).

We will favor proposals aligned with our stated mission: “to inform, inspire and engage individual and collective participation in local and global transformation in harmony with all life.” The most compelling proposals will be those that set forth a sound plan with a strong potential for success.

Possible uses of a Seed Grant:

  • offer a transformational art or gardening project in your community
  • organize and promote a symposium or panel
  • create a public awareness campaign
  • develop a sharing project such as a tool bank or farmers’ market
  • start a film festival
  • offer workshops
  • and many more!

Please review our website and specific areas of focus for further inspiration. Selected and short-listed projects may also benefit from featured coverage by Kosmos Journal and Kosmos Online.

The deadline for submission is February 14th, 2015 and awards will be announced in early March.

To apply, please go to this form and provide the requested information.
