Join us for a public rally, food and aid caravan!
Saturday, May 11 at noon
Embassy of Venezuela, 1099 30th Street NW, Washington, D.C.
With permission from the elected government of Venezuela, on April 10 a number of peace activists moved into the Venezuelan Embassy to prevent its takeover by supporters of the attempted coup led by U.S. puppet Juan Guaido. The Embassy Protection Collective (EPC) has since faced daily harassment from angry Guaido supporters as well as the United States Secret Service.
The Secret Service has escalated tension over the past few days by stopping delivery of mail, preventing EPC supporters from delivering food, and as of Thursday, allowing power to be shut off to the Embassy. There have been repeated instances of Guaido supporters physically attacking EPC supporters in front of the Embassy, resulting in the arrests of those being attacked.
On Thursday the Secret Service, injured and then arrested two EPC supporters, including Gerry Condon, president of Veterans for Peace, for tossing fruit into open Embassy windows. (https://www.gp.org/may_8_2019
In an attempt to shine on a spotlight on this situation, a public rally will be held in front of the Embassy by EPC supporters. Caravans of supporters will be arriving from out of state, bringing food, medicine and other needed items.
