Protesters are targeting the Chicago Sun-Times after the newspaper laid off its entire staff of photographers. The newspaper announced last week it had laid off all of its 28 full-time still photographers. The Chicago Newspaper Guild has asked the National Labor Relations Board to rule that Sun-Times management bargained in bad faith. Thursday morning, protesters picketted the company’s headquarters downtown. The Sun-Times says the decision reflects the growing importance of video in its stories. The newspaper plans to use freelance photographers and reporters to shoot photos and video.
