Pandora rocks. But what about the rocks in our own communities? I just heard Pandora pro-fracking advertisements played every hour. Pandora, through partnerships with Shell and American Petroleum Institute, has launched an aggressive and relentless advertising campaign in support of the highly controversial process of fracking. We are committed to protecting our communities. Four Colorado towns voted for bans or moratoria on hydraulic fracturing in November. Moreover, people are deeply affected by the floods that hit the state in September. Not only have the Colorado floods claimed lives and thousands of homes, they have also hit oil equipment sparking fears that fuel, heavy metals and hydraulic fracturing fluids, 41 of which are known to be extremely toxic, may be seeping into our local water supply. These advertisements are audacious.

We, the people of Colorado, and all around the world who are exposed to the environmental consequences of this process, demand these advertisements cease immediately. It is unacceptable for corporations to claim there are no deleterious effects from this process. The wastewater produced by fracking contains high levels of of radioactivity that wastewater treatment plants are not equipped to treat. In addition, fracking is a contributor to global warming, the great threat to life on Earth. How dare Pandora claims that fracking is safe for our water, and air! Pandora, stop playing these misleading advertisements.
