Urgent Solidarity Action Request For Shut Down Creech

Note: On February 28, 2015, Nick Mottern of Know Drones sent an alert making an urgent solidarity request for the upcoming protest at the Creech Air Force Base.  The protest is being held from March 4-6, 2015 at Creech Air Force Base, Indian Springs, Nevada, and is a national mobilization of nonviolent resistance to shut down killer drone operations in Afghanistan, Pakistan,Yemen, Somalia, and everywhere. This article is based on Mottern’s call for solidarity.

Toby Blome, one of the organizers of Shut Down Creech, is urging that we all organize a vigil or other solidarity event for this coming Friday, March 6 when there will be a major event at Creech AFB drone base outside Las Vegas, NV.

This is being done in Albuquerque, NM, as indicated below, and in Poughkeepsie, NY and Des Moines, IA.

This is very last minute, but any show of solidarity and public outreach will be very important.

(Snow date: Tues Mar. 10, same time & place)

Several people from the Syracuse area will be our guests of honor. They will tell us about their motivations for protesting the drone wars and their experiences with peacefully protesting these wars at Hancock Air Base, a killer drone command center, near Syracuse.Their true stories, & our responses to them, will be dramatized for us by members of the highly skilled Hudson River Playback Theatre, who are generously donating their time & expertise.

Back Story:
Hancock Air Base commander Earl Evans took out Orders of Protection against these citizens & local state judges David Gideon & Robert Jokl have upheld these OPs and have given these citizens maximum penalties & have created legal situations to maximize financial costs to these protestors. Meanwhile, State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office remains silent. His office has so far failed to respond to a written question about this issue submitted last summer by Drone Alert – Hudson Valley member Andrew Dalton.

Admission is free.
Donations toward a travel/meal stipend for our special guests will be gratefully accepted at the event, as will donations for legal costs. Checks for the latter should be made payable to “Upstate Drone Action”. They will be gratefully accepted at the event, as will cash donations, or can be mailed to Upstate Drone Action, c/o Syracuse Peace Council, 2013 E Genesee St, Syracuse NY 13210.

Want to join us for dinner out after the event? Email me back, or call or text Andrew @845 699 8051 by Mar 3. We will make a reservation at a local restaurant.

Please spread the word!
To peace & sanity,
Barbara Kidney
