I wanted to let you know of a new project I’m launching with three other great political cartoonists. It’s called “The Four Cartoonists of the Apocalypse.”
Together with Scott Stantis, Stephanie McMillan and Stephen Notely, we’ve set up a no-holds-barred online publication. We don’t agree about anything, and our work’s very different. But we have a mutual respect for each other’s work, intelligence and humor.
Every week, you’ll get a rotating series of updates from one of us, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at sketches, ideas, drafts or more. You can also nab a “Four Cartoonists of the Apocalypse” T-shirt, featuring work from Stephanie McMillan.
I’m really excited to face off against Scott, Stephanie and Stephen. If you want to follow along, and support independent cartooning, you can back us on Beacon here.
We need 400 backers to make this project a reality, so please back this project and spread the word!
Here’s what you’ll get by backing us:
✓ A rotating series of updates from each of us — Ted Rall, Scott Stantis, Stephanie McMillan and Stephen Notley — throughout the month, with original cartoons exclusively for backers.
✓ A behind-the-scenes look at sketches, ideas, drafts and more.
✓ Higher-level backers can get the the exclusive “Four Cartoonists of the Apocalypse” T-shirt.
✓ Access to every story, by every writer on Beacon.
We’re four political cartoonists who don’t agree on anything.
But despite that, we all have a mutual respect for each other’s work, intelligence and humor.
With this project on Beacon, we’re coming together online for the first time. And that means you’re getting four of the best working political cartoonists today, squaring off each and every week.
Ted Rall is the cartoonist for The Los Angeles Times.
Scott Stantis is the editorial cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune.
Stephanie McMillan is the creator of Minimum Security.
Stephen Notley is the creator of Bob the Angry Flower.
The censor is off, the editors are gone and we can turn this space into a no-holds-barred cartooning free-for-all.
We’ve set a goal of 400 subscribers because that provides enough funding to create and share original work and sketches for Beacon. And since you’re getting us, unfiltered, that means you’re going to be getting our sharpest wit and our cutting-edge stuff.
The vast majority of every subscription goes directly to us, so by backing this project, you’re helping to making quality political cartooning truly sustainable on the Internet.
