HOUSTON – Hundreds of protesters gathered at the University of Houston Thursday to voice their opinions ahead of the Republican presidential debate.
Those protesting marched near the Opera Center wanting to make their message loud and clear to the candidates.
Some of the big issues regarded immigration and voters’ rights and jobs. Several signs pushed for a raise of minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Many of those protesting said they don’t believe the Republican candidates viewpoints represent those of most Americans.

“They’re so busy fighting each other, but they’re not thinking about the citizens. They’re thinking about themselves and their standards and their standing in the party. That’s not what it’s all about.” said Rev. James E. Daniels, one of the protesters. However, there were many supporters of the Republican candidates also present Thursday evening, holding up signs of their own.
