Over the last several weeks, members of Veterans For Peace and About Face: Veterans Against the War have been working to free Mohammed Ibrahim, a Palestinian-American teen who was abducted by Israel in the West Bank over 8 months ago. As momentum gains, it’s essential that more veterans’ voices join these efforts.
We are close to bringing Mohammed home. To ensure his safe return, we are calling for a day of action on November 8 and encourage VFP members to work in coalition with local groups.
Please refer to the following toolkit to start planning a local day of action: bit.ly/Mohkit
Background:
On February 16, 2025, more than two-dozen heavily-armed Israeli soldiers broke in and kidnapped Mohammed from his family home in the middle of the night. The soldiers blindfolded him and tied his arms behind his back. At the time, Mohammed was just 15 years old. While in captivity, he turned 16 and has been forced to endure inhumane conditions, which he described in vivid detail a week ago when Israel finally granted him contact with the outside world. Mohammed’s family and community are worried sick. Israel hasn’t allowed them to speak to or visit him since his abduction. They miss Mohammed dearly and are devastated that the United States isn’t doing more to secure his release and safe return home.
Testimony from Palestinians who have been held in Israeli prison camps describes terrible conditions, including severe neglect, abuse, and torture. Since his abduction, Mohammed has lost over 30 pounds and contracted scabies because of these horrific conditions. No person–and especially no child–should be treated this way. Mohammed should be free and living his life like a normal teenager. See the action items below to do your part to free Mohammed Ibrahim so he can return to the life he deserves and begin to heal.
