Call To Action For Julian Assange

Assange’s legal team has the right to challenge the credibility and validity of the U.S. assurances filed on February 24, 2024. The U.S. would then have a right to reply to Assange’s legal submissions to the court, which will hold a hearing on May 20, 2024, to determine whether or not to accept the U.S. assurances.

If the court does, Assange can be put on a plane to the U.S. theoretically that day. If not Assange would be granted a full appeal against the Home Office’s 2022 order to extradite him.

What we can do now

We are calling for a MAYDAY FOR JULIAN.  This is an action you can do from the comfort of your home. All we are asking is for you to make just 6 calls per week. We are targeting the 5 congresspersons listed below. In addition to them, please include a call to your own Congressperson as well.

Between now and the U.K. Hearing on May 20, please make six calls per week to the representatives listed.

Please call these U.S. Representatives to co-sponsor H. Res. 934 to drop the charges and extradition of Julian Assange.  Remind them that they signed onto the previous (Massie/McGovern) letter to stop the extradition.

You can reach all of them through the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 or use the numbers below:

U.S. Representative Washington Office Phone
Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) (202) 225-3106
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) (202) 225-3965
Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) (202) 225-5111
Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-Il) (202) 225-3211
Greg Casar (D-TX) (202) 225-5645
YOUR REPRESENTATIVE                   (202) 224-3121

If you prefer to use a script, here is one:

“My name is ____ and I would like Congressperson ____ to sign on to House Resolution 934 to free Julian Assange

I appreciate the fact that Congressperson ____ signed onto the previous (Massie/McGovern) letter to stop the extradition. So I am hoping that _______will add (his or her) name to the bipartisan House Resolution 934 to drop the charges and extradition request for Assange

“All major press freedom and human rights organizations are opposed to this extradition.  They know that our ability to know what our government is doing in our name and with our tax dollars is essential to our democracy – and that this can only occur with a free press. Extraditing Julian Assange will criminalize journalism. Protect press freedom! Free Julian AssangePlease sign on to H. Res. 934.  Thank you!

Thank you for all your efforts to free Julian Assange!
