Protests Spoil Opening Of Trump Hotel In DC

Hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the new Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 26 to show their outrage at Donald Trump’s constant displays of racism, sexism and countless other forms of bigotry as well as his refusal to negotiate with workers who have voted to form a union at another one of his hotels. Trump had planned a ribbon-cutting ceremony where he would gloat about his expanding wealth, but was forced to retreat inside to avoid the protest.

The ANSWER Coalition, Metro Washington Council of the AFL-CIO and others mobilized on short notice to put together a powerful demonstration. Protesters also had to wage a determined legal struggle to assert their free speech rights (read more here).
