For years occupiers and allies of the 99% across the country have been occupying pipelines tirelessly. We’ve seen and acted on the direct threat they pose to an inhabitable planet for us all.
The evidence is in: if the Keystone XL pipeline proceeds it will be “game over for the climate” as NASA scientist James Hansen says. If we want a livable climate, an ‘all of the above’ strategy is not an option. The notion of Occupy The Pipeline has never been more important.
The Occupy Network is standing in solidarity with our friends at 350.org and all those who are now engaged in the middle of the last official public comment period for the State Department’s Final Environmental Impact Statement on the Keystone XL. This is one of the very last steps before President Obama makes his decision on the pipeline, and the final opportunity to give your input in an official way.
Join the movement to make the President reject the Keystone XL pipeline.
Rest assured that more opportunities for large scale direct action will soon be at hand as well. Just this past weekend over a thousand protested and 398 youth climate activists were arrested at the White House, and more than 86,000 people have signed a Keystone XL pledge to resist. If we’re pushed to it, we will occupy the pipeline that much more.
In the meantime, as a movement we submitted over 1 million comments last time around — let’s keep the momentum going this time to make sure we are heard!
