Why do we oppose this Pipeline? 

Spectra Energy is building a pipeline carrying fracked gas in West Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts. This is a densely populated residential area.There are many reasons to oppose this project, the larger pipeline (the Algonquin), and fracked gas in general. Opposition to the WRLP falls mainly into two categories: Local Concerns and Climate Change.

Recent Actions

June 1st: Summer of escalation began today, Star Wars lock-down style. Our friends attached themselves to metal plates covering the pipeline, preventing Spectra from working. Here’s some coverage!

‘Star Wars’ heroes arrested at West Roxbury pipeline protest

Han Solo and Luke Skywalker were arrested Tuesday in West Roxbury. Well, not quite. But two men dressed as the Rebel Alliance heroes led a “Star Wars”-themed protest at the West Roxbury Lateral Pipeline construction project. Ben Weilerstein, 22, and Martin Hamilton, 21, chained themselves to a steel plate at the site.

On May 25th, sixteen faith leaders from eight traditions held an interfaith prayer service at the Metering and Regulating Station site and then marched up Grove Street to disrupt pipeline construction. Mothers come out to support!

Check out this video from Saturday’s (5/21) demonstration with Mothers Out Front, where dozens of brave folks were arrested while blocking construction and Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley inspires us all.
