Note: The sanction-abusive US government is pushing countries to break from US domination. Russia has said that US sanctions have made them stronger and more self-reliant. Now Venezuela, which is facing severe sanctions is saying it must break from the US. Sanctions have become an act of war by the United States. They are a tool to force government to heel to US demands, to put in place US-friendly governments. But, countries are starting to stand up and say, ‘our people and our environment come before the United States.’ Of course, when sanctions fail, the US is unlikely to give way to allowing national sovereignty in Venezuela (or anywhere else) so the US military should be expected to follow. Countries need to be prepared for this likely reality. KZ
Venezuela’s planning minister, Ricardo Menendez, says the time has come to break the country’s ties to the United States and put an end to U.S. domination.
“Venezuela guarantees its plan for investment in infrastructure and services for the people,” the minister wrote on Twitter.
He added that Venezuela needs to develop its technological and productive capacity in order to substitute its current imports.
Menendez made his remarks three days after President Donald Trump signed an executive order that seeks to shut off Venezuela’s access to new credit from U.S. financial markets.

On Friday, President Nicolas Maduro recognized that Washington’s new sanctions would hurt the Venezuelan people. But he also said they could be an opportunity for his country to move towards a greater degree of independence.
