Donna Nevel of Jews Against Islamophobia coalition sent along a new video that is quite effective in its simple concern: justice and dignity for all communities.
Nevel can be seen in the ad at :50 saying, “I recommit myself to opposing the litmus test that determines who is an ‘acceptable’ Muslim based on their loyalty to the state of Israel.” Excellent point.
This video goes along with a new project of Jewish Voice for Peace, called the JVP Network Against Islamophobia. Here is part of the announcement:
We are so pleased to share with you our new, very short video–Jews Recommit to Standing Against Islamophobia.
While we have all been rightly concerned about the recent Islamophobic ads on NYC subways and buses, we recognize that Islamophobia extends far beyond those ads, and wanted to make that reality more visible within our community–the Jewish community– and more broadly.
Some of us from Jews Against Islamophobia have been part of initiating a new national network, J-NAI (Jewish Voice for Peace Network Against Islamophobia) that we hope will provide support and resources for those interested in organizing against Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism, and in making the connections between Islamophobia and Israel politics.
You can see the video and our new JNAI page by going to the following link: JVP.org/JNAI
We hope those watching the video will become inspired to take action together with the many, many individuals and groups inside and outside the Muslim community organizing against Islamophobia and standing for peace, for justice, and for dignity for all peoples.
