More than a thousand students, teachers and administrators of the first house of studies of the University of Panama, made a march on Tuesday October 22 from the Transistmica to the facilities of the National Assembly.

The measure was given as a rejection of the proposals that would modify the articles of the Political Constitution of the Republic, in which, according to the university authorities themselves, they revealed that they would affect the operation of the higher education center.

But despite the fact that the initiative started peacefully , the spirits were heated once the students were denied entry to the National Assembly.

For this reason and despite the rain that fell at that time, students decided to enter the force by jumping the fence and entering with flags and slogans.

After the tense situation, the security corps confronted the students, so the intervention of the crowd control unit of the National Police was necessary.

The rector Eduardo Flores managed to enter and meet with some authorities to find a solution to the problem.

The Expanded Council of the university categorically rejected the modifications  of articles 99 and 104 on education that were approved in the discussion of the first block of the project and request that they be withdrawn.
