The Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) of Venezuela launched a special security deployment to guarantee peace and security during the inauguration of President Nicolás Maduro, scheduled for the coming Friday, January 10.
This was reported by the head of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Granko Arteaga, who detailed that more than 1,200 military personnel are participating in this deployment.
“I count on you to defend this country and the people, with the extraordinary civil-military-police union led by Commander-in-Chief Nicolás Maduro Moros,” Granko Arteaga said in a video released by the FANB’s Strategic Operational Command. “We are going to guarantee peace, to give security to the people, we are going to guarantee that on January 10, President Maduro is sworn in, and we will be sworn in with him. Forward together to victory!”
Lieutenant Colonel Granko also highlighted that in recent months, the FANB has carried out operations against mercenaries who have tried to enter Venezuela to destabilize and attack the democratic institutions.
“We have carried out operations against mercenaries, which have yielded fruitful results, and this year will not be an exception,” he added, reiterating the military’s commitment to ensuring peace and sovereignty.
The military commander stressed that the deployment for security and peace is a commitment of the Venezuelan armed forces.
As established by the Venezuelan Constitution, on January 10, Nicolás Maduro will be sworn in before the National Assembly for a new presidential term (2025-2031), following his victory in the elections on July 28, 2024. However, the Venezuelan far-right opposition, under US imperialist directions, has refused to recognize the election results and threatened to create chaos by trying to swear in its former presidential candidate Edmundo González, in violation of the entire institutional and legal framework of Venezuela.
