Energy Secretary Claims Trump ‘Wants To Use Force’ Against Venezuela

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that President Donald Trump wants to use force to compel political change in Venezuela. Wright’s remarks were made during an interview with Fox News on Sunday, May 11.

“President Trump wants to use United States force, our energy independence, to force change in Venezuela,” the US regime’s energy secretary said. Using the allegation of the migration of criminal gang Tren de Aragua, which the Venezuelan government has reported is extinct, Wright added: “We need to change the situation in Venezuela, not just for Venezuelans, but for all gang members and the refugees fleeing that country, and ‘millions’ of them ending up in the United States.”

Wright confessed that the path to so-called “energy independence” has left Chevron “caught in the crossfire.” The US oil corporation was sanctioned by the Trump administration in February with the aim of harming the Venezuelan people.

Other similar measures were implemented a month later, when the US threatened to impose 25% secondary tariffs on countries that purchase Venezuelan oil or gas. At the time, the Venezuelan government condemned the measure, calling it a flagrant violation of international trade rules.

Now, US threats extend beyond the energy field. “I think peace through strength is going to be the winning strategy here,” Wright reaffirmed.

Venezuela’s response

In response to the top US regime official, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez stated this Monday, “The only thing that will prevail is the force of law against those who seek to steal Venezuela’s energy resources. The oil colonialism exercised by the US during the ignominious Punto Fijo regime was buried by Commander Hugo Chávez. Today, Venezuela’s energy resources and massive oil and gas reserves belong to the people and serve national development and fair, cooperative international relations. Whoever wants our oil and gas must pay for it. The tyranny of the hegemonic economic aggressor will never return!”
