It’s rare to get a chance to talk to FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) or PSC (Public Service Commission) staffers without traveling to DC or Albany, but this week we have a chance to reach them right here in NYC!
Both agencies are in town for a joint meeting to discuss New York’s energy future, and what happens in NYS affects both PA and New England, so please get to these rallies if you can and tell all your friends!
There will be 2 rallies Wednesday, as they begin and end their day (see schedule below)
Pat Almonrode will lead the morning rally from 7:30-9:30am;
Kim Fraczek will lead the afternoon rally from 2:30-4:30pm.
Bring signs saying what kind of energy future you do/don’t want.
Please wear black tops and dark bottoms and dark sunglasses because “FERC is a shady business.”
A Facebook event has been created, please get it out to your lists and please jump in and make this happen! As soon as you “join” the event we’ll make you an admin; please invite all your friends.
Point the Finger @FERC NYC
A meetup event has also been created if you’re not on facebook:
On Monday we are doing a flash mob in front of FERC offices in DC, where we will “point the finger at FERC,” and the Beyond Extreme Energy action will be blockading FERC entrances all week in DC, so FERC commissioners will have a hard time missing the public’s message! Feel free to recycle the “FERC is a Shady Business” t-shirts that have been created for theMonday action, and if you want to make your own t-shirt the facebook event tells you where to pick up an iron-on decal yourself.
Some of the morning protestors may go inside to attend the day-long forum.
They may feel compelled to respond to what is said, that’s up to them.
The focus of the Nov. 5th meeting is the NYS Capacity Market and infrastructure investments. While renewables and efficiency are mentioned, it appears obvious that a big focus will be shale gas infrastructure. Even if they all they were gathering to talk about was renewables, this is an excellent opportunity to send a message about what we want and don’t want.
If you want to attend the forum sign up here:
It has been suggested that all activists sign up under the same name, suggested as:
“Anti-#FrackingMonstrosity Pipeline Activist”
forum schedule:

8:00am – 9:00am Preliminary Agenda Registration

9:00am – 9:30am Opening remarks by Commissioners
3:00pm – 3:15pm  Break
3:15pm – 4:00pm  Roundtable discussion among Commissioners/Wrap up
