Israeli-Made Famine In Gaza Reaches Critical Point

At least 15 Palestinians died of starvation in Gaza over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll from hunger and malnutrition to 101 since the start of the genocide, including 89 children, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry on July 22. “This is a silent massacre. The Ministry of Health holds the Israeli occupation and the international community fully responsible. We urgently call for the immediate opening of all crossings to allow the entry of food and medicine,” the ministry said. Euro-Med Monitor reported that one Palestinian died of hunger every 80 minutes on Sunday, accusing Israel of pursuing “a systematic starvation policy against 2 million residents.”

Attempts At Sabotage Of Flotilla Ship ‘Handala’ Hours before Sailing To Gaza

Mere hours before the Gaza flotilla ship Handala was to sail with 21 participants on board, in the Italian port of Gallipoli, two attempts to sabotage the ship were made. The Freedom Flotilla coalition stated in its Instagram: “Just hours before departure, the ‘Handala’ faced two alarming incidents: a rope wrapped around the propeller and a delivery labeled as water that contained a corrosive chemical, injuring crew members. These may be calculated attempts to harm us and stop our mission. We will not be intimidated. We sail for the children of Gaza—against siege, starvation, and slaughter. We sail to break Israel’s illegal blockade and deliver life-saving aid and hope.

Freedom Flotilla’s Handala Begins Its Journey To Gaza

Siracusa, Italy, July 13, 2025 — Today, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) announces that Handala, our civilian aid boat, has officially set sail from Siracusa, Italy and begun its journey to Gaza. This marks a bold step in our ongoing effort to challenge Israel’s illegal, deadly blockade of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The boat carries life-saving humanitarian aid and a message of solidarity from people around the world refusing to stay silent as Gaza is starved, bombed, and buried under rubble. This mission comes just weeks after Israel’s illegal attack on the Madleen, another Freedom Flotilla boat, which was violently seized in international waters.

Freedom Flotilla To Sail Again With New Mission

Only weeks after the crew of the boat Madleen was intercepted and abducted in international waters by Israeli occupation forces, the Freedom Flotilla coalition is preparing to set sail again. The Handala, carrying essential supplies including food and medicines, will begin its voyage from Italy on July 13, with 18 crew members on board, including trade unionists and parliamentarians such as US labor organizer Christian Smalls, French MEP Emma Fourreau, and MP Gabrielle Cathala. Michele Borgia, spokesperson for Freedom Flotilla Italy, told Peoples Dispatch that beyond the Flotilla’s consistent message of solidarity with the Palestinian people under siege, this mission has an additional focus: the children of Gaza.

Gaza Flotilla Ship ‘Handala’ Sails To Challenge Genocide Of Palestinians

As the genocide of Palestinians continues with the daily massacres of hundreds of starving people being targeted and killed by the Israeli military as they come to attempt to get food, another ship of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla coalition “Handala” is sailing to bring attention to the criminal actions of the State of Israel and its leadership. While President Trump, his cabinet and the US Congress meet with the International Criminal Court (ICC) designated war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the small ship named Handala and a group of 18 participants is in final preparations for another mission to break the illegal Israeli naval blockade of Gaza and end the genocide.

Freedom Flotilla Ship Will Attempt To Break Israeli Blockade Of Gaza

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) has said it will attempt to break the Israeli siege of Gaza with another ship. Last month, the FFC vessel ‘Madleen’ was seized by Israeli forces before it could reach the starving people of the Strip. A statement on the organization’s X account announced that the next ship will set sail from Italy next week: “We are setting sail again. On July 13, 2025, our boat Handala will depart from Siracusa [Syracuse], Italy, to break Israel’s illegal blockade. This mission is for the children of Gaza.” It continued, “Just weeks ago, Israeli forces illegally seized our boat Madleen and abducted 12 unarmed civilians aboard her in international waters.”

DRAD Seeks Answers About US Government Role In ‘Slaughter Masquerading As Humanitarian Aid’

Yesterday, Defending Rights & Dissent filed two Freedom of Information Act requests to uncover details about the U.S. government’s relationship with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the shadowy private aid group that has been mired in controversy since announcing efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza in early May. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) published a statement which declared that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution effort “is a slaughter masquerading as humanitarian aid.” The first FOIA request seeks internal State Department reports and communications about the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, as well as the U.S. government’s communications with Israel about the organization.

Over 170 NGOs Urge End To US–Israeli ‘Aid Traps’ In Gaza

More than 170 international NGOs, including Oxfam, Save the Children, Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and the Norwegian Refugee Council, issued a joint declaration on 1 July in Geneva calling for an immediate end to the US-Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). According to medical authorities in Gaza, over 550 Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured near GHF aid distribution sites and transport routes since the foundation began operating in late May. The statement warned that “Palestinians in Gaza face an impossible choice: starve or risk being shot while trying desperately to reach food to feed their families.”

Washington Green-Lights $30m For Gaza Aid Scheme

The US government approved a $30 million grant to the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) on 20 June under a “priority directive” from the White House and the State Department. According to a document reviewed by Reuters, an initial $7 million had already been disbursed at the time. This is the first publicly known financial contribution by Washington to the GHF, which until now had received only diplomatic backing. Two officials cited in the report said the US may approve additional continuous monthly grants of $30 million to the group. GHF, launched in late May, is a joint US–Israeli initiative that relies on private US military and logistics contractors to deliver and distribute aid across Gaza.

Reports With Video From The March To Gaza

On the morning of the 13th, delegates headed in taxis to a remote site in the Sinai desert. There were three military checkpoints: at the first some delegates were turned back and forced into a bus that left them in Cairo; those of us that made it to a third checkpoint were stopped and all our passports were confiscated… about 1200 of us gathered and were gradually encircled by the Egyptian military. At that point we were told we could turn back or “risk being arrested”—about 50 people left and were bussed back to Cairo. Those remaining chanted and talked among ourselves and the time passed quickly despite the desert heat.

Egypt Blocks And Deports Activists On The Global March To Gaza

The Global March to Gaza reports that hundreds of independent activists and organizations from around the world were violently deported by Egyptian authorities. Police and officials at Cairo Airport violated the activists; human rights. They not only deceived them by requesting their passports to enter, but also kept them waiting and detained in the security checkpoint for more than six hours. After several hours, they beat women and men forced them to leave the airport on buses and did not return the belongings of some of the deportees. The Egyptian government indiscriminately expelled the activists, returning them to Istanbul. The activists came from various backgrounds, including the coordinator of the International Platform for Solidarity with the Palestinian Cause, journalist and activist Hindu Anderi, and popular communicator Rome Arrieche.

GHF Contractor Reveals ‘Horrific’ Details Of US-Israeli ‘Aid Traps’

An anonymous US security contractor employed at one of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’s (GHF) aid sites in the Gaza Strip has slammed the entire initiative as “pure chaos,” calling it “absolutely horrific” while accusing Israeli forces of continuously firing at unarmed Palestinians. “I thought I was signing up for an aid mission. But what I've witnessed in Gaza is horrific,” the anonymous contractor wrote in a Zeteo article published on 12 June. “I am one of hundreds of security contractors who have been in Gaza to facilitate aid under the new US-backed GHF project. And it’s all bullshit,” the contractor added.

In Solidarity With Gaza, La Via Campesina Joins Convoy To Rafah

The overland “Steadfastness” Convoy to break the siege on Gaza will depart from Tunisia on the morning of Monday, June 9, 2025, under the slogan: “The chains must be broken.” The convoy will travel through Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt, with the goal of reaching the Rafah crossing. As a member of La Via Campesina’s Arab and North Africa Region, the Association of the Million Rural Women and Landless (MRWL) is a key partner in the organization, support, and mobilization for this popular overland convoy. The convoy coincides with the Global March to Gaza and the Freedom Flotilla, where freedom-loving people from around the world will gather at Rafah on June 14, 2025, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Gaza Freedom Flotilla Sailboat Madleen Intercepted By Israelis

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s (FFC) sailboat, Madleen was intercepted in international waters by the Israeli military at 3:02 am CEST at 31.95236° N, 32.38880° E. The ship was unlawfully boarded, its 12 unarmed civilian crew and participants abducted, and its life-saving cargo—including baby formula, food and medical supplies—confiscated, as well as personal possessions taken. To our knowledge, no one from the Madleen was injured during the interception. Immediately after the interception, the crew and participants were moved immediately from the Madleen and taken to an Israeli ship. That is only the second time that crew/participants have been taken off the flotilla ship.

A Timeline Of Attacks On Starving Civilians At US-Backed GHF Aid Sites

On March 2, Israel announced the closure of Gaza’s main crossings, cutting off food, medical and humanitarian supplies, worsening a humanitarian crisis for 2.3 million Palestinians, according to reports by human rights organisations who have accused it of using starvation as a weapon of war against Palestinains. On May 27, the controversial US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began its operations in the Gaza Strip, opening its first of four distribution points in Rafah in southern Gaza. After more than 80 days of total blockade, starvation, and growing international outrage, limited aid has allegedly been distributed by the GHF, a scandal-plagued organization backed by the US and Israel, created to bypass the UN’s established aid delivery infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
