Maduro Denounces Bribery Attempts On Army Officers

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro denounced this Sunday that the country's right-wing has received more than US$400 million with the objective of buying politicians, policemen and members of the Bolivarian National Armed Force, to put them at the service of foreign nations' interests. During an interview for the 'Jose Vicente Hoy' show, Maduro affirmed that despite bribes, the Venezuelan Armed Forces have remained loyal to the Constitution, the Venezuelan people, and the Bolivarian Revolution. However, the head of state informed there are people imprisoned for giving in or being caught taking such illegal money. "We have dismembered, with the participation of our own armed force officers, more than 47 attempts to recruit officers to put them at the service of Colombia's strategy and the gringos," Maduro said...

Pay Off Right People And You Are No Longer A Terrorist

By Philip Giraldi for Information Clearing House - October 31, 2017 "Information Clearing House" - If you want to change a group of terrorists who have killed American overseas into something that appears to be much more benign, all you have to do is pay off the right people in Washington. With enough money, you can even open a nice plush lobbying office on Pennsylvania Avenue in the District of Columbia, not too far from the White House and Capitol Hill. One-time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been rightly blamed for the ill-conceived and badly bungled “regime change” in Libya in 2011 that eventually led to her mishandling of the resulting blowback in Benghazi, but one of her greatest failings just might have involved the piece of paper she signed when she removed the Mujaheddin e Khalq (MEK) group from the State Department list of “designated terrorist organizations” in September 2012. How is it possible that the bad judgment demonstrated in the Libyan fiasco that created a failed state, a humanitarian disaster, a migrant crisis, armed terrorists and ultimately produced the murder of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans compare with a signature on a piece of paper? It is because that signature put in place one of the elements that will most likely in the near future lead to a far more disastrous war for the United States than was Libya.

200 DHS Employees Accepted Nearly $15M In Bribes

By Andrew Emett for Nation of Change - A recent New York Times investigation found that almost 200 employees and contract workers from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) were caught accepting nearly $15 million in bribes and betraying their oath of office within the last 10 years. Besides turning a blind eye to drug smuggling and human trafficking, many of these DHS employees also illegally accessed databases, sold green cards, and provided sensitive law enforcement information to drug cartels. “It does absolutely no good to talk about the building of walls or tougher enforcement if you can’t secure the integrity of the immigration system...

17 Of The Worst Corporate Crimes In 2015

By Phil Mattera for Dirt Diggers Digest. The ongoing corporate crime wave showed no signs of abating in 2015. BP paid a record $20 billion to settle the remaining civil charges relating to the Deepwater Horizon disaster (on top of the $4 billion in previous criminal penalties), and Volkswagen is facing perhaps even greater liability in connection with its scheme to evade emission standards. Other automakers and suppliers were hit with large penalties for safety violations, including a $900 million fine (and deferred criminal prosecution) for General Motors, a record civil penalty of $200 million for Japanese airbag maker Takata, penalties of $105 million and $70 million for Fiat Chrysler, and $70 million for Honda. Major banks continued to pay large penalties to resolve a variety of legal entanglements. Five banks (Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland and UBS) had to pay a total of $2.5 billion to the Justice Department and $1.8 billion to the Federal Reserve in connection with charges that they conspired to manipulate foreign exchange markets.
