Wet’suwet’en Strong: Unceded And Unwavering + Mining The Deep Ocean

Trans rights are human rights – because human rights are only valid if they include every person in their entirety. Next, mining on land is so 20th century – the new frontier of mining is just as deep and dark as it is terrifying and catastrophic. And finally, we hear from the Wet’suwet’en on their ongoing battle to preserve their ancestral homelands. http://unistoten.camp/

Unist’ot’en Burn Injunction On Bridge And Actions Shut Down Canada

Canada - On the morning of February 8, 2020, RCMP officers landed at the gates of Unist'ot'en Village by helicopter. Unist'ot'en chiefs and house members began calling on their ancestors for support. They held a cremation ceremony for Canadian/Indigenous reconciliation, and burned a copy of the injunction that the RCMP was there to serve on behalf of Coastal GasLink (TC Energy). After about 30 minutes, the RCMP got back into their helicopters and left. Eleven people including legal observers were arrested today at the camp at 27 kilometer on bogus charges. The 4 people arrested at 27 km yesterday are being held in jail until they appear before a judge in Smithers on Monday In response rail lines, ports, and roads are being shut down across Canada with people vowing to stay until the RCMP stand down!

Report From The Unist’ot’en Solidarity Brigade

This morning at approximately 4:30 am, heavily militarized RCMP invaded unceded Wet'suwet'en territory to facilitate construction of the Coastal Gaslink pipeline. Dozens of cops with dogs and assault rifles were used to arrest 6 unarmed people. This was a monitoring post, set up to look out for Wet'suwet'en people further up the road at the Gidimt'en Checkpoint and Unist'ot'en Camp. NO ONE was violating any injunction. RCMP said they would use the least amount of force possible, but they deployed a full-scale invading force. We have never ceded or surrendered this land and we never will. We stand strong.

Gas Company And Canadian Police Invade Gidim’ten Land Again

January 28, 2019 – Over the weekend Coastal GasLink willfully, illegally, and violently destroyed Gidimt’en cultural infrastructure and personal property on Gidimt’en territory without our consent. This was our infrastructure to be on our land and exercise our land-based culture. Coastal GasLink’s attack on our cultural practices - with RCMP’s active complicity - is an attack on our sovereignty and an attack on our way of life. This is an area, at 44 km, where Coastal GasLink have not obtained permits and is not even included in their proposed plans.

Open Letter: Chiefs Call Out RCMP For Misinformation And Invasion

The Union of BC Indian Chiefs has issued an open letter dealing with the misconduct of the RCMP and attempts to absolve its responsibility regarding its forcible intervention against the Wet’suwet’en people in British Columbia on January 7 and its ongoing involvement at the site. The Union of BC Indian Chiefs (UBCIC) writes today to rectify the erroneous reports from the DLT regarding actions taken by the RCMP during their enforcement of the interim injunction at the Gidimt’en checkpoint on January 7 and ongoing involvement at the site.
