Palestine Action Halt F-35 Supply Chain At Wirral Weapons Factory

Palestine Action activists shut down a factory today that is known to supply crucial parts for warplanes being used in Israel’s Gaza genocide. They climbed onto the roof of Teledyne CML Composites in Bromborough on the Wirral, cut holes into it and sprayed blood-red paint into the factory. Parent company Teledyne Technologies is the single-largest exporter of weaponry from Britain to Israel. CML Composites specialises in components for the F-35 fighter jet, which Israel has used to drop 2,000lb bombs on Gaza. Activists from the group previously targeted the site in July, driving a van through the factory gates before drenching it in red paint.

There Is No Canadian ‘Climate Leadership’ Without Canceling The F-35

On Friday January 6th 2023 people gathered in front of Minister of the Environment Steven Guilbeault’s office to speak out against the F-35 deal that was announced by the Canadian government. Although it may have been unclear why we were protesting at Guilbeault’s office for a peace protest, there were many reasons for us to be there. As a climate justice activist fighting against fossil fuel infrastructure, such as Enbridge’s Line 5, an aging, deteriorating, illegal, and unnecessary pipeline passing through the Great Lakes and that was ordered to shut down in 2020 by Michigan’s Governor Whitmer, I wanted to highlight some of the connections between anti-war and climate justice activism. Guilbeault is exemplifying the hypocritical approach of the Canadian government. The Canadian government tries so hard to create this image of itself as a peace-keeper and climate leader but fails in both regards.

Public Relations War Over F-35 Stealth Fighter Jet Enters New Phase

Members of the Ottawa Peace Council will on Friday head to the Lockheed Martin Canada headquarters on O’Connor Street to protest the Liberal government’s decision to purchase that company’s F-35 stealth fighter. The gathering is part of what is being called the Global Mobilization to Stop Lockheed Martin, a series of at least nine protests in various cities around the world to highlight the company’s role as the largest weapons producer in the world. The F-35 is expected to be featured prominently at the various protests, including in Toronto, as the public relations war over the jet enters a new phase. The Liberal government announced March 28 it was entering into negotiations to buy the fighter plane, retreating on Justin Trudeau’s promise Canada would never acquire the aircraft he claimed didn’t work and wasn’t needed.
