Global Sumud Flotilla Receives Warnings Of Imminent Israeli Attack

Several governments have warned their citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla of an imminent Israeli attack, according to statements by the flotilla’s organizers on 25 September. The aid convoy, made up of dozens of ships attempting to break the blockade on Gaza, sailed overnight through Greek waters and is expected to enter international waters within hours.  Activists reported that drones hovered over one of the ships, the Omar al-Mukhtar, which carries a mobile medical clinic, and confirmed that the fleet had already been targeted in 12 drone strikes that hit nine vessels. Flotilla organizers say the mission will continue despite the threats, insisting on the need to deliver humanitarian supplies directly to the besieged strip and into the hands of its starving people.

A Group Of US Veterans Has Joined The Global Flotilla Sailing To Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, which departed Barcelona on August 31, is the largest civilian maritime attempt to break Israel’s siege of Gaza. Dozens of boats are sailing across the Mediterranean to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians. On the night of September 23, the boats were hit with a barrage of attacks. “Multiple drones, unidentified objects dropped, communications jammed and explosions heard from a number of boats,” said the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) in a statement. “We are witnessing these psychological operations first-hand, right now, but we will not be intimidated.” This was not the first time the flotilla had been targeted. Alleged drones hit two boats in the flotilla earlier this month, and, while Israel’s involvement has not been proven, the country’s Foreign Ministry has denounced the mission as a “jihadist initiative.”

Global Sumud Flotilla Boats Attacked By Israeli Drones

As the Israeli government continues unabated its horrific genocide of Palestinians and the destruction of housing and infrastructure in Gaza, in the third attack on the 42-ship Global Sumud flotilla, drones attacked multiple boats in international waters south-west of the Greek island of Crete, this morning September 24, 2025. In May 2025, another flotilla ship, the Conscience, was attacked in international waters off Malta. It  was damaged by Israeli bombs that blew holes in the deck of the ship’s bow causing severe damage in the hold in the bow of the ship.

Italy Redirects Navy Ship To Assist Global Sumud Flotilla After Attacks

Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said in a statement on 24 September that an Italian navy ship has been redirected towards the Global Sumud Flotilla to provide it with “possible assistance,” after it came under a series of Israeli attacks overnight. The Italian defense minister strongly condemned the overnight drone attacks. Activists on board several of the flotilla’s boats reported at least 10 explosions after witnessing drones launch several attacks early on Wednesday. The boats were situated off the coast of Greece. “Multiple drones, unidentified objects dropped, communications jammed, and explosions heard from a number of boats. We are witnessing these psychological operations firsthand, right now, but we will not be intimidated,” Global Sumud Flotilla said.

Global Sumud Flotilla Enters Crucial Phase En Route To Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission, now sailing in international waters near Greece before heading to Gaza, has entered its most crucial phase, described as the decisive moment of the entire movement within the coming week. Founder of Cinta Salam Malaysia (CSM), Ahmad Musa Al-Nuwayri Kamaruzaman, who is part of the mission, said the GSF vessel was currently en route to gather with other ships participating in the effort. Ahmad Musa, who is aboard the vessel Alma, said it was expected to arrive near Greece in the next two days. "In fact, the distance from Greece is very close to Gaza. I asked the chief executive officer of Cinta Gaza Malaysia, Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman, and he said it may take another four to five days from Greece before reaching Gaza.

All Hands on Deck! Letter From Veterans Boat On Gaza Flotilla

Nine of us veterans arrived in Barcelona on August 27th. We were mostly strangers meeting for the first time, with a couple of exceptions.  We began to bond immediately – which was fairly easy considering our common bonds of being veterans sailing for peace.  Two Marine veterans had served together with HMX-1, presidential helicopter. There are two combat veterans. And then there’s me. That’s all that’s left as of today, as four veterans have had to leave the boat for a variety of reasons, including the inherent delays associated with the historical size of the flotilla. In Barcelona, our days were full of training protocols; preparing travel documentation and our “SOS videos” for our anticipated illegal kidnapping.  We also had time for bonding and we took advantage of the luxury of eating out.

Global Sumud Flotilla Sets Out On Last Leg Of Journey To Gaza

The Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying critical aid to Gaza, began the final leg of its planned route after departing ports across Tunisia this weekend. The first of over 40 boats now at sea left Gammarth port on Saturday, with the final boat departing Bizerte on Monday morning. One week after arriving in Tunis, 16 of the fleet’s original 24 boats resumed their journey east from Barcelona, carrying aid and international passengers in a bid to open a humanitarian corridor and break Israel’s siege on Gaza, which is illegal under international law. At least 422 people in Gaza have died from malnutrition caused by Israel’s blockade, since famine was declared in August.

Two Incendiary Bombs Dropped On Gaza Flotilla Ships In Past Two Days

For the past two nights around 11:30pm Tunisia time, Israeli forces have dropped incendiary bombs from quadcopter drones on boats of the Global Sumud Flotilla in the waters near Tunis, Tunisia.  On the night of September 8, 2025, the first incendiary bomb hit the deck of the lead ship of the flotilla, the “Familia,” causing a fire. A crew member onboard “Familia” told me that he saw the quadcopter hovering about 20 feet above the ship and then going higher and moving to the bow of the ship. The quadcopter then dropped the incendiary device. The second incendiary bomb dropped from a quadcopter drone hit the “Alma” ship in the night of September 9, 2025 and again caused a fire to break out.

Gaza Flotilla In Tunis Attacked By Explosives Delivered By Drones

For the second time in three months, drones carrying explosives have attacked boats in the Gaza flotillas. I was in Malta when the “Conscience” ship was attacked by drones carrying explosives and I am now in Tunis where the “Familia” ship was attacked. Several hours ago in the evening of September 8, an explosive dropped from a drone hit “Familia, ”the lead ship of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) anchored in national Tunisian waters off Port    causing a fire on the bow of the ship.  There were 5 people onboard as the crew and security team. No one was injured. Five months previously, on May 1, 2025, multiple drones dropped explosives on the “Conscience” flotilla ship in international waters off Malta causing such extensive damage to the bow of the ship that it became inoperative.

Global Sumud Flotilla Heads Back To Port Due To Inclement Weather

The Global Sumud Flotilla, dubbed the largest in history, was forced back to Barcelona on 1 September after storms struck Catalonia, with organizers saying the decision was taken to prioritize safety as winds reached over 56 kilometers per hour. The convoy is comprised of around 20 boats with participants from 44 countries and is reportedly carrying over 300 tons of aid to help relieve the starving people of Gaza, with additional vessels expected to join the expedition in Tunis and Sicily. The fleet departed Barcelona a day earlier under the cheers of thousands of supporters who gathered at the departure point, in an effort to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza, but turned back fearing that the smaller vessels could not withstand the storm.

Sumud, The Largest Flotilla To Sail For Gaza, Prepares To Set Out

Barcelona, Spain – Volunteers from across the world have come together in the main hall of one of Spain’s oldest labour unions, the UGT – once a registration centre for international volunteers who came to Spain to fight fascism during the Spanish Civil War. Now it has trained the nonviolent international volunteers – Palestine supporters, activists, journalists and politicians – who will sail on the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza on Sunday. “We are not heroes. We are not the story. The story is the people of Gaza,” organiser Thiago Avila, a lifelong activist for Palestine and environmental justice, told the crowds gathered for a news conference before the ships set sail. Their goal is to deliver humanitarian aid, which is the flotilla’s only cargo, and open a humanitarian corridor for Palestinians facing being starved and killed by Israel.

European Dockworkers And Medics To Join Global Sumud Flotilla

Delegations from at least 17 European countries are preparing to join the Global Sumud Flotilla, which will set sail on Sunday, August 31, in a new attempt to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza. Many of the crew members taking part in this effort to deliver urgently needed supplies have already been active in Palestine solidarity campaigns in their own countries over the past years. For them, joining the flotilla is a logical step in confronting Israel’s ongoing genocide. Belgian physician Hanne Bosselaers, active with Medics for the People (MPLP–GVHV) and the People’s Health Movement (PHM), emphasized that it is impossible to remain idle while a genocide unfolds in Palestine. Like other PHM members who will also be on board, including British emergency doctor James Smith and Moroccan health activist Aziz Rhali, Bosselaers has long worked with Palestinian health organizations and highlighted the resilience and determination of Gaza’s health workers.

Twenty-Four US-Allied Nations Urge Israel To Lift All Restrictions On Aid

Twenty-four US-allied nations and three senior EU officials have signed a joint statement calling for Israel to lift all restrictions on aid entering the Gaza Strip, warning that the Israeli-imposed famine has reached “unimaginable levels.” The statement, published by the British Foreign Ministry, comes as Palestinians continue to starve to death every day in Gaza due to the US-backed Israeli blockade. “The humanitarian suffering in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels. Famine is unfolding before our eyes. Urgent action is needed now to halt and reverse starvation. Humanitarian space must be protected, and aid should never be politicized,” the statement reads.

‘Largest Civilian Flotilla In History’ To Set Sail For Gaza

Activists from 44 countries plan to launch the largest civilian flotilla in history at the end of August in an effort to break Israel’s siege on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the starving population of the enclave.  The Global Sumud Flotilla, along with three allied initiatives, will send dozens of boats from Spanish ports on 31 August and Tunisian ports on 4 September, aiming to establish a humanitarian corridor and confront what organizers call Israel’s genocide against Palestinians. “This summer, dozens of boats, both large and small, will set sail from ports across the world, converging on Gaza in the largest civilian flotilla of its kind in history,” said organizer Haifa Mansouri.

US Security Contractor: ‘I Saw Israel Commit War Crimes At Gaza Aid Sites’

A former contractor for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) says he saw Israeli soldiers commit war crimes at the aid distribution sites being run by the Israeli-backed American agency. In a series of interviews, former GHF employee and Green Beret Anthony Aguilar alleged that he saw Israeli soldiers use “indiscriminate” force against civilians at various Gaza aid sites. “My most frank assessment — I would say that they are criminal,” said Aguilar. “In my entire career, I have never witnessed the level of brutality and use of indiscriminate and unnecessary force against a civilian population, an unarmed, starving population.”
