How Mass Haredi Opposition Could Reshape Israel

The massive rally of the Haredi community in Israel on Thursday was not merely another episode in the long-running conflict between secular and religious Israelis.  It revealed something deeper: a tectonic shift driven by dramatic demographic change, internal fractures within the Haredi community, and the unravelling of a political bargain that for decades linked the state’s ruling coalitions to Haredi parties. For decades, the political architecture that sustained Haredi political power rested on a simple transactional logic: in return for predictable Knesset support, Haredi parties secured budgets, institutional autonomy, and protections for religious life.  Under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s long tenure, that arrangement - fed by growing state resources and generous allocations to Haredi education and social systems - became entrenched.

The Israeli Occupation Forces Attacked Our Ship Conscience

The voyage went relatively well up until the interception. We sailed with the 1000 Madleens to Gaza flotilla so we spent some time catching up to them, waiting for them and then sailing with them. I met a couple of their people while we were in prison and at the hotel after we were released. They were good folks - and highly skilled sailors as well.  The weather on the passage was mixed. We had a decent blow a couple of days in and seas were running a meter to a meter and a half. The medical staff used almost all of our seasickness medication during the week we were at sea but we never ran out. Fortunately, things calmed down for the last three days of the voyage. Generally, spirits ran high among the participants and I never felt like we were worried about the Israelis doing anything to us at all.

Gaza: Airstrikes, Explosive Vehicles, Bulldozers Cause ‘Insane’ Destruction

Ahead of its planned full-scale invasion of Gaza City, the Israeli army is causing widespread destruction in the Strip’s largest urban center, forcing residents to evacuate ahead of its publicly declared start date: October 7. Recent reports from eyewitnesses and the Gaza Civil Defense show that the Israeli army has been using retrofitted armored personnel carriers (APCs) that are sent into dense population centers, including neighborhoods and displacement centers, before they are remotely detonated. The attacks continue alongside an extensive bulldozing operation in the city and constant aerial bombardment. Between August 12 and August 18, the Israeli army destroyed over 400 buildings in the Zaytoun neighborhood and launched a limited ground incursion at its edges.

Israel Launches Ground Raids In Southwest Syria

Israeli ground troops have carried out multiple ground raids across southwestern Syria over the weekend, including overnight raids in the Quneitra Governorate overnight Saturday, which led to the capture of multiple “suspects” who have not been conclusively identified and appear to simply be local Syrians. On Friday, Israeli troops attacked farmers near Jubata al-Khashab, first opening fire on them while they were actively farming their own land then confiscating a tractor in the area because the tractor was trying to haul away trees within the area which Israeli military bulldozers had recently knocked down. Three Syrians were captured in that incident.

Family Of Palestinian-American Man Killed By Settlers Demands US Action

Friday, July 11, marked a profound bereavement for the residents of Al-Mazraa Al-Sharqiyah village northeast of Ramallah, in the central occupied West Bank, after a group of illegal Israeli settlers treacherously murdered two young men of the village. Mohammad Shalabi (23), and Sayfollah Musallet (20) were in Mount Al-Baten, located between Al-Mazraa Al-Sharqiyah and a nearby village called Sinjil, when they were attacked by settlers and killed. A resident of Al-Mazraa Al-Sharqiyah told Peoples Dispatch that illegal Israeli settlers began to vandalize farms belonging to families of the village in Mount Al-Baten over a month ago.

Israeli Soldiers Fear Prosecution Over Genocide In Gaza

Israel’s genocide in Gaza has left soldiers serving in the occupation army “afraid” to return “home”, fearing prosecution for war crimes committed during the ongoing assault which has killed more than 58,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. In Canada, where several citizens have served in the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), a growing number of those soldiers are reported to be reconsidering trips home after learning they may be under investigation. In June, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) confirmed it had launched a “structural investigation” into crimes committed during the Gaza assault.

United Kingdom Lawyers To Charge 10 Britons For Gaza War Crimes

A leading UK human rights lawyer is set to submit a war crimes complaint to the Metropolitan police against 10 British citizens who served with the Israeli army in Gaza. Michael Mansfield KC will hand the 240-page complaint to the police department’s war crimes unit on 7 April. It cites Israel’s targeted killing of civilians and humanitarian aid workers, as well as airstrikes on hospitals and densely populated civilian neighborhoods. It also includes the targeting of religious sites and historic monuments. The documents were prepared by British lawyers and researchers from The Hague. The names of the 10 Britons in question have not been made public.

People Of Southern Lebanon Defy Zionist Invaders And Return Home

The people of southern Lebanon did not wait long before deciding to return to their towns and villages devastated by Israeli assaults, after the 60-day deadline set for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the area expired at 4:00 am on January 26, 2025. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced that the Zionist occupation forces would not meet the deadline set for their withdrawal from southern Lebanon, in a breach of the terms of the ceasefire agreement that ended the war, further exposing “Israel’s” aggressive and expansionist nature.

Noa Argamani Blasts Israeli Media: ‘Hamas Did Not Injure Me’

Noa Argamani, the Israeli captive freed by an army operation that killed hundreds of Palestinian civilians, has lashed out at the media for misreporting comments she made about her time in captivity. “I can’t ignore what happened in the media in the last 24 hours. Things were taken out of context,” Argamani stated in an Instagram story posted to her account on 23 August. “I was not beaten and my hair was not cut. I was in a building that was bombed by the Air Force. The exact quote is: ‘This past weekend, after the shooting, as I said, I had cuts all over my head and was injured all over my body.’ I emphasize that I was not beaten, but injured all over my body by the collapse of a building on me,” Argamani added.

Why Are We Doing Informational Picketing At This Gas Station?

People are organizing to stop shipments of petroleum products to the Israel military in order to end the genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, as shown in this poster. Oil Change International reports that BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Shell are profiting from the transfer of crude oil and oil products to Israel where the crude is refined into jet fuel, diesel and gasoline for tanks and other military vehicles. Valero ships jet fuel to Israel directly from the U.S., according to the American Friends Service Committee. “…oil firms must ensure they’re not in the business of helping to entrench Israel’s apartheid system or fueling war crimes…” – Peter Frankental, Amnesty International.

US War Games In Pacific Seek Global Participation In Imperialist Maneuvers

Every two years, the Indo-Pacific Command Center of the United States convenes the largest maritime war exercises on the planet. With over 35,000 troops participating, 29 nations, 46 naval surface ships, 4 nuclear submarines, and a multitude of air and ground forces, the Rim of the Pacific military exercises, or RIMPAC, is one of the most destructive training events globally. Through these exercises, the US consolidates its control of the Pacific. RIMPAC began as an annual training exercise in 1971 and became bi-annual in 1974. Since it began, some of the historically worst human rights abusers like the US, Australia, Canada, and Israel have participated in the exercise.
